WLS Approval Process & Stress Echo update

Okay, so Baylor received my paperwork last Wednesday. It was scanned into their system by the time Lisa (the Bariatric Nurse) called me on Thursday. So, I'm figuring that Dr. McCarty will have had it submitted to United Healthcare either yesterday or by tomorrow. UHC is pretty efficient, I hear, about doing approvals and rejections. I think I will know something within the next two weeks one way or the other. That's fast! Yes, it makes my palms a bit sweaty. :o)

On Cardiologists, the Heart Place called me on Tuesday morning. The appointment scheduler told me that Dr. Anwar only does seriously ill people. I told her I'd done more research on him after making the call last week and I knew he did angioplasties and figured he wouldn't see me. She said she could schedule an appointment with another doctor. She asked why I wanted to have this Stress Echo done, asked if I had another doctor's recommendation. I told her that my insurance says I can see specialists without a referral. She said that's not what she meant and explained that there had to be an order for the test. So, stupidly, instead of saying that I did research and I want a picture of my heart, or something like that, I told her about Dr. Culver's recommendation after the office EKG. She said I would have to call her office and have them fax over the information/test request. I said okay and then I called Shahram. Shahram said we should just wait to see Dr. McCarty, tell him the sitch, show him the EKG, and ask him to order the test if he thinks it's necessary... and even if he doesn't. The confrontation with the triage nurse is affecting me in a negative way even now. I don't want to call Culver's office. I don't want to deal with that person again. Guh.

Anyway... I have to get moving. I'm wrapping my ankle today--the right one. The achilles tendon is painful. When I was Disco Sweating two days ago, it hurt a lot each time I put weight on it. So yesterday I did strength/resistance training and just a bit of recumbent biking to give it a break. I want to get back to the aerobics today. Shahram recommended wrapping it.

ankle, stress ekg, wls
