So, Shahram calls The Heart Place today. The appointment setter tells him that they do not take new patients. Patients must be referred for consultations or testing by another doctor. That doctor must fax information to the office and then an appointment can be set. Good God! Again the sick feelings. This is just fucking stupid. What if I wanted a second opinion on something? I'd not be able to be seen at Baylor. Shahram told the appointment setter that I am in line to have WLS through Baylor. In effect, she said that the surgeon would fax over the paperwork when he wanted me to be seen. :::sighs:::
I wrote to Amber McVey, the nurse who was at the seminar--the one who has been through the surgery:
Hi Amber,
Thank you for your help. I do appreciate it more than I can say.
I tried to make an appointment with The Heart Place today, but the appointment setter would not allow me to have a consultation without a fax from a medical office saying that I need to be seen. I can't work with Cardiac Consultants because they are not in my insurance network.
I'm so sorry to bother you with this. Is it possible for your office to fax something over there for me?
Thank you,
So, I don't know if this will work or not, but she knows I want to be seen by a cardiologist and she recommended The Heart Place and Cardiac Consultants. Cardiac Consultants are not in my insurance network. She may say to wait, but I have a feeling she won't. I have these emails and her advice is from Baylor, right? Right.
She may tell me to go to my physician. At that point, I may tell her about the triage nurse, or I may just suck it up, elevate my blood pressure and go in to see the doctor... I don't want to have to see her because I don't want my insurance company to pay for an office visit for just this matter. Perhaps I should ask Amber who some physicians are who work with post-ops and are sensitive and knowledgeable about their needs.
