You have to keep in mind that tastes change after the surgery :) Some things I loved before, I hated post op and the opposite was also true.

Oh, that's no good! Oy. Hmmm... what do you suggest, Ashley? Thank you, in advance.

Some of the ones you like, you may still like post op. Maybe it's different for people. But right after my surgery it was a gamble ya know? Some days I liked things. Some days I didn't. I got my protein in even if I didn't like the taste of things lol

Yeah, I suppose at that point, I'd drink it even if I hated it, well, at least until I could get something different. I have a feeling post-op is going to be a little pricey at first.

the biggest downside to nectar is the froth, i either drink them with a straw, or shake them really well and then let it sit for about 5 minutes so that the froth dies down and then swirl it around to re-mix it. i have little 16 oz rubbermaid sippin savers that i shake them up in at work. when you drink straight from them, the angle prevents you from getting a lot of froth. you're right about fuzzy navel, it's best with a little less water than it calls for, and nothing but ice cold water will do ( ... )

Do you know why tastes change after surgery?

Hopefully, the grape stuff I've been raving about will still be good after surgery because she's having a mega sale on it right now and I really should buy a tub of it.

I really like SYN TRAX stuff because it's 0 fat and 0 carbs. I didn't realize it would be like that. I thought it would be similar to Atkins shakes, but Atkins has like 7 grams of fat per shake and a couple of carbs. They are twice the calories of SynTrax.

i really don't know why it changes, it's weird. and it's not just protein shakes--i can't even smell krispy kreme doughnuts anymore--even though every now and then my brain says "i miss donuts", if i drive past the store when the "hot now" sign is on, the smell actually makes me a little sick. i tried a sip of my husband's coke zero the other day, and i realized that i simply do not care for colas anymore. i think it may be in the same vein as food aversions caused by illness. cooked (slimy) mushrooms made me sick once when i was pregnant. even though i used to love them, i cannot eat them anymore--the texture makes my stomach roll. i can still eat and love raw mushrooms though.

i agree, syntrax stuff is great as far as getting your calories from protein and nothing else.

also, i wouldn't worry about the grape too much--i still like most of the fruit flavors i tried pre-op, it was the milky/chocolatey flavors that changed on me. :)
