I found out about this concert in November of '07, and decided I really wanted to go. As fortune would have it,
devoidofthought is also a Nightwish fan, and she picked up tickets. She graciously donated one to me as a wedding present. As the months passed I began to see videos, like the one I posted yesterday, and this one;

Suddenly it was May, and the concert was rapidly approaching. A new video, this one radically different from the other two appeared;

Excited I was, and hoping the concert would live up to expectations. My darling
stephtopia was sure, after listening to some of the songs, that the show was going to be "theatrical and dramatic". I drove yesterday to pick up
devoidofthought, and we went to the university to see the show. We ended up in the line through the food court with about 500 or so other brothers and sisters in metal. There also appeared to be an anime con or something going on, as there were numerous anime costumed people running around. We saw anime hair, cat girls, and even the red Power Ranger.
At last the doors were opened, and we got thoroughly searched on the way in. T-shirts were bought and coats were checked, and then the long wait began. Sonic Syndicate finally started, and they were not bad for an Unearth clone. They entertained. A short break between bands began, and I called home to report on the doings and seeings so far. My darling isn't into 'the metals' but she does like to hear if I am having a good time.
devoidofthought opinioned that she should be exposed to more of it to drive up her tolerance and eventually convert her. Believe me, I am trying!
Nightwish began, and for the next hour and a half I stood stunned by the power, majesty, and dramatical theatricalisms. It was as good as seeing The Who was last year. It was better than many concerts I have seen in recent years. It flat out rocked, and when it was over I felt giddy. I dropped my metal sister at home and returned to my Steph, who noted that I reeked of smoke, had a hoarse voice from all the screaming and hollering, and promptly ordered me into the shower. I slept like the dead.
Best concert ever.
Wow.
