the only thing more exciting than playing metroid prime 2 is playing it during a surprise lightning storm. and racing to get to a save point. and the power going out before reaching said save point. boo to lightning storms.

That's why my TV (rear projection dlp), Xbox, and server are all on a Belkin 900VA UPS. It saved my TV the day I installed it. Beautiful day, sunny, on a Sunday, watching an Eagles game, poof the power goes out. Doing a hard shutdown on a projector bulb is a bad idea; it needs to cool down slowly.
Just imagine what would happen if your power went out while your xbox was saying "saving game, do not turn off xbox." It could render it unusable. I know you were using your GC and not your xbox. Who knows what would happen to the GC.
