well, being in control is pretty much the definition of power, and in the current social structures, men have most of the power. so we're socialized to let the men drive. if you don't like it, start asking sarah if she'd prefer to drive.

When John and I are driving together, it's pretty random who drives. It somewhat depends on how long the journey is, what time of day it is (I dislike driving at night more), and which car we're driving. A data point.
