[if you're looking at your communicator you will see that there is a young lady on screen standing behind a counter top donning a chef hat and apron. She has a mixing bowl and a plethora of ingredients spread out on the counter]
Ah! Welcome, welcome everybody! Today we are going to make a lemon cake. This is no ordinary cake though, this is a special pudding cake, its sure to delight at any gathering. Lets get started, shall we?
First preheat your oven to 350 degrees
[she turns around to set the dial on an oven]
Next you'll need to grease a two quart baking dish...
[she picks up a can of pam and sprays it thoroughly onto a round baking pan]
now, separate your eggs and and set them aside. Good!
In this bowl we're going to combine our flour, butter and a half cup of our sugar. Mix it very thoroughly. Then, in a separate bowl you're going to beat the egg yolks and then add the sugar mixture, milk, and lemon zest.
Still with me? Great!
Now we're going to chop our onion
[wait, what?]
make sure it's minced finely, larger chunks will throw off the flavor.
[she proceeds to mince a whole red onion]
Now, add the onion to your batter. Wonderful!
Next we're going to beat the egg whites. Slowly add the remaining sugar. Make sure the eggwhites form stiff peaks. It should look like this...
[she tips the bowl over and uses the whisk to create a peak in the mixture.]
got it? Ok, now all we have to do is fold the egg whites into the batter. Make sure it mixes evenly!
Poor your batter into the greased pan, place it in the oven and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until lightly browned.
[she places the cake into the oven and pulls out a finished one from the bottom rack, ahh the magic of television]
Luckily I have one already baked up right here!
[she cuts a slice and plates it. The camera zooms in on the cake, you can see all those little onion chunks in the lemon confection. MMMMmmmmm]
Delicious looking, right?
