[It's obvious from the positioning of the Guide that its point of view was set up very deliberately. It moves slightly as if being adjusted by an off-screen figure, and then there is a flash of light.
Talk about staged. Excalibur Someone has set the Guide in advance to nicely pan out, and the viewer can see a magnificent blade more or less centered on-screen, held in the gauntleted hand of a wielder whose face is not yet visible. And lo, the holy blade speaks!]
"Behold, Thor! A new hero steps up to the stage; the clock is running, the fans are wild, and the ladies are in love. He is a reminder of my time spent as a ruffian, a heroic bad guy in the twenties..."
"Ah, Excalibur, I don't think--"
"Fool! I am off-center! Reposition yourself at once!"
"R-right..."
[Clank. That is some serious armor, man. Serious armor. Finally, one can see the whole picture, though! The sword is bathed in a glow of soft white light, its wielder wearing...
Roman armor? Actually, said bearer of the weapon looks a little like he's about to keel over under all that fancy stuff, as his hand is trembling just slightly on the hilt of the sword.]
"Young ones! Know the glory of Excalibur, and the very hand that wields this awesome power!"
[Wobble.]
"Fool! The stage directions clearly said that you must cleave the heavens exactly five seconds after my exclamations! And stop that wobbling. It won't do for our close-up. Into the light!"
[Here, there is an obvious attempt to move backward, but the last of Ion's rather flimsy physical endurance seems to have worn out under all that metal, and he trips off-screen with sort of a gasp and a very large CLANK.]
"FOOL!!"
[[OOC: Grey is Excalibur, and green is Ion. Expect random responses from the glorious sword.]]
