Win or lose, it's how you play the game. ◌ Accidental Video ◌ 006

[The Guide starts filming, showing the brightly coloured lobby of a laser tag arena. Irene is looking up to something off-screen intently, then frowns slightly. She is reading the score from the last round, and the result is not as favourable as she could have liked. All the same, she turns to America with a smile.]

Tied again, dear. Another round?

[Irene... you just get more and more impressive. Seriously, like, best role model ever.] Go get 'im, Irene!

So what're you playing for? What's the ultimate prize? Or is it just bragging rights?

Oh, there is some pride on the line.
It would be gentlemanly of him to concede, but it seems to be out of the question. [It's juvenile, really. But it's quite queer how they keep drawing a tie...]

Yeah, he's not gonna be one to back down. Unless, you, like, offer to show him some boobage or whatever. That might get 'im to fold.

[Oh wait- you're her mature and super mcfly-guy idol... she shouldn't say things like that. Um... quick save?]

I'm not saying you actually should but just, y'know, pretend. Like a fib! To your profit!

[I so lol-ed - Rikku you are an awesome fangirl XD]

[She looks at Rikku with clear amusement for a moment, then makes a dismissive gesture with her hand.]

I did try offering him a peaceful compromise, but he is more focused on winning this than on any other possible gains.

Guys... I swear, their mind is like, single gear, forward. Zoom. Just one new direction.

[ooc: Please excuse the terribly lame Glee joke I tried to bleep in there.]

[[No worries ^.^]]

[She takes a moment to sort that use of words out - Irene is getting fairly skilled at getting the gist of things.]

Mmm. Not all of them are. Or rather, not solely focused on eros. Some can be quite single-minded about other things, and it takes quite an effort to get them to ...change gears.

[Has to look up on Guide!Google what eros means. Shhh, she didn't want you to know she had no clue.] Like my old man and complaining. He'll just go on and on and on and on- well, you get the gist- just so he can find something to complain about. And it's like, "Cut it out old man, you're wasting daylight with your yammering!" But then, just to be difficult, he'll say [Trying to imitate his voice:] "It's a good thing I'm wasting daylight! The sun's too bright and it's giving me a rash! Let me tell you a thing or two 'bout the sun..."

And then I just zone 'im out so I couldn't tell you what he'd say after that... But I bet you can take a guess.

Indeed I can, dear. [Amused smile~]

However it is far more interesting when the men in question are not family.

My super-sleuth senses are telling me you've got some guys like that?

missthewoman May 26 2011, 10:38:47 UTC
And you would be correct. Perhaps you don't know my acquaintances well enough yet to guess at whom, though. Holmes would be my prime example, with Mister Sherlock a close second.

I've met one of 'em a couple times before!

But, what's the difference between Mister Sherlock and Holmes? I thought his name was Sherlock Holmes.

Both of their names are Sherlock Holmes, so it is merely a convention to help one know which man one is speaking of.

The one from the England of 1891, whom I know, is referred to as 'Holmes', and the one from England of 2010 is referred to as 'Sherlock'.

Calling people by their last name was more popular in our time than now, it seems.

Well, let's see. Something simple- what colour are his eyes?
