Short notice, but I've just gotten a go ahead from the channels through the Thorian Pilot's Association that grants me access to one of the long-distance cruisers for an extended period of time. It can run on as few as seven people in crew, but hold up to thirty pending folks don't mind closer quarters. There's a few contracts attached, as in

What direction do you plan to take? I understand you are searching for answer about the Purists and Sigrun, but is this also to find your supposedly destroyed planet?
Other question I'd like to be answered is how do you plan on getting back. Thor is using the improbability drive to travel at the end of each month, so it jumps to a random location; how will you find this random location?
Will TPA be able to trace the ship? As for communicating with Thor, will we be able to?

Part of the extra delay on the far end of the trip will be accounting for correcting to Thor's new location. Transfers to the ships tied to the Thor run about a week's relay behind, updating to the ship's new location. Hopping transfer points through the drives the ship uses will get us back to the Thor before IID activation at the end of the month following this one.
TPA can trace any ship in its registry based on on-ship tracking devices. Of course, it's all behind by a week, much like transmissions on coordinates between ships. Communicating back to the Thor will be possible if we create the kind of transponder necessary for it.

I find it amusing. Thor's captains have told us it's impossible to communicate with other ships, exactly due to the IID. Adjacent to that fact, it'd mean it's impossible to trace ships as well. TPA can do it, despite that being told us?

We move forward from there.
Let's just say it's not the most up to date system. Nothing tracks during IID activation, and databanks update at different speeds depending on how far they have to communicate back. Communicating with other ships? I think we can. As long as we're not using the drive.
I don't believe it's impossible to communicate with others in our fleet.

If the captains mislead us about communicating with other ships, that makes things far more complicated, then. About the Purists.

It does. I don't like what it can imply.

It's only natural.

And let's hope we all have at least similar objectives from this field trip.
