[Lemina's already down on the planet, standing near the edge of one of the floating islands. ... huh. That was fast.]
[She's also standing next to
a funny-looking piece of magitech and has a pair of aviator goggles hanging around her neck.]
[And she is grinning from ear to ear, and holds up a finger.]
First up, an announcement: The New Magic Guild of Vane will be having its first official meeting this weekend down here on Wrryndia! This is not a members-only meeting, so feel free to bring any potential recruits, or even friends who just want to tag along. And bring some food! We can do this potluck style!
All right, are we all mega-clear? ... good! Time is money, so let's not waste any more of it and get this show on the road!
TA-DAAAHHHHH! Introducing the now fully-functional Mega-Magic Aeroscooter!
[Yup, she's gesturing at that magitech, like a Vanna White wannabe.]
[She pauses, just long enough for the applause in her head to die down, and then quickly picks up her Guide and brings it over to the Aeroscooter. There's a small frame mounted on the front that the Guide fits into, pointing its camera between the handlebars to film everything in front of the Aeroscooter.]
[Then there's a moment or two of silence, as Lemina presumably puts on those aviator goggles and double-checks the systems, making sure everything is go for launch.]
Okay! Here we go!
[There's a roar of a magical engine below the Guide, and the Aeroscooter hovers off the ground. She flies it forward a bit, and then...]
[She turns, and flies it straight off the edge of the island.]
[At first, it looks like it's going to nosedive straight down into the abyss of the planet. But... no! She pulls it back and the craft levels out, and starts riding an air current like a jetski on water.]
[
How about a little mood music at this point?]
[There's a few relatively small islands here, and she starts circling around below one of them, checking the underside.]
I wonder if anyone still has records on how these islands were created? I'm sure they don't work quite like the magical propulsion system built by the Vile Tribe to keep Vane in the sky... but maybe there's some similarity in the underlying theories?
I'll have to check some of the libraries later. With this many islands, there must be some documentation. At least for repairs!
[She starts to circle around another one... but then turns away, steering towards something glimmering in the distance. As she draws close, she starts squealing excitedly.]
Aaaaah!! The guide was right! There really are flying fish around here! [And then, in a cutesy, almost baby-talking voice:] Helloo~ooo, little fishies~! You guys are mega-lucky that I don't still travel with a flying cat!
[She giggles, continuing to ride alongside the school of fish, and then...] ... huh? Hey, do you guys see that? [For a moment, her pointing finger can be seen on the screen, towards a dark shape that looks like it's swimming through a cloud.] Is that one of the dragons the Guide mentioned?
... ... ...
Well, only one way to find out! [SHE HITS THE GAS. FULL SPEED AHEAD. DRAGONS AREN'T DANGEROUS, RIGHT?]
[However, as she gets closer, the shape gets more and more distinct, looking strikingly like a giant version of one of the flying fish...]
[In fact, it's as big as a whale!]
[In fact,
it is a whale!]
By the goddess! Guys?! Are you seeing this?! The guide didn't say anything about this!
Hang on... maybe if I search...
[She puts the Aeroscooter into neutral, so it's just floating near the flying whale.]
... oh, wow! It seems there's a huge flying ecosystem for this 'ocean of clouds'... eh? Flying barnacles? How are those supposed to fly?!
[At this point, anyone who is not Lemina might notice there's something else almost as big as the whale swimming in the cloud, too...]
... in particular, there's a flying whale who's a bit of a celebrity among tourists, since he doesn't run away from ships or other machines. His name is Chance, and he has four white spots arranged in a diamond near his left eye...
[She looks at the whale, whose left eye is facing her. Sure enough, there are the four white spots.]
Then that means--! [She takes a deep breath, and then shouts at the top of her lungs:]
NICE TO MEET YOU, CHANCE!!!
[And lo and behold, there's a squeal of a whale song back. The other dark shape in the cloud shifts a bit...]
This is so mega-cool! What else does it say about Chance?!
[She reads the next part aloud:] "It is advised that tourists only look for Chance from the safety of a ship's deck. Divers and surfers should steer clear of this gentle giant! It is not merely tourists that Chance has formed an unusual friendship with. Wherever you find him, you can rest assured that his 'best friend' is nearby: a giant flying shark named Gambit, who will eat any lone tourists who get too close."
[Lemina looks up from the Guide. And sure enough, there's a giant flying shark flying straight towards the Aeroscooter.]
... ... ...
[SHE SHRIEKS AT THE TOP OF HER LUNGS AND STARTS FLYING AWAY AS FAST AS HER AEROSCOOTER CAN TAKE HER.]
[[OOC: Dedicated to
Chance and
Gambit, mascots of
The Sky Tides. Because this planet was begging for it.]]
