Run #2: Text

Religion.

What do you think of it?

And where does anyone find a quiet place to rest in this chaos? I have yet to get a moment of peace.

[ooc; Friendly reminder: PERMISSIONS are important for this character! Thanks!

There are a lot of misconceptions about Heaven.

I find the gardens to be more peaceful than the rest of the ship.

Very well. Whenever you're ready, just go to the gardens and call my name. I'll meet you there.

[She looks around the screen a little, obviously trying to pull up the map...]

I'll go there in a few minutes.

[FEED END; segue to...

int. GARDENS

She steps inside, looking casual as she can with the Guide balanced on the palm of one hand. There are several long minutes of her stalking around the place to see if anyone she doesn't want to see is around, before she finally settles on a quiet, near-overgrown corner of the garden.]

Well, Castiel? I am here.

[A moment later there's the sound of invisible wings, and Castiel appears in front of her.]

Hello.

[She stares for a long moment, taking her hat off very, very, very slowly. She doesn't seem able to speak.

It's a bit of a strange reaction, admittedly.]

[He tilts his head as he looks at her.]

Is there something wrong?

You aren't what I imagined I would see. Certainly not what they told us about.

My name is--was--Sister Maria Donata. I am from a small mountain town in Italy, but I am sure that isn't important to you at all.

[Well that explains the reaction. There's a very slight smile for a moment.]

As I said, there are quite a few misconceptions about angels.

[And then he's all business again.]

Is there a reason you wish your name to remain secret, Sister?

The consequences for being discovered by the men I knew in America isn't something I want to think about. I couldn't seem weak in front of anyone, let alone the very people I was trying to defeat. In my time, being a woman means being pushed around when you are singled out and vulnerable.

I was tasked by certain individuals to recover the body of Jesus Christ from America. I was to return it to the Vatican, once I found all of the pieces. The entire affair was hidden by a cross-country race, which I registered to participate in under an assumed name.

[He seems a little surprised by her tale.]

I see. Your world must have a very different history than my own then.

Is there a name you would prefer I use?

My given name is Guistina; my alias in the race was Hot Pants. I do not care what you call me, but I understand there may be secure ways to contact others? It seemed that way, from what I was told by someone. I haven't figured it out yet, but when I do, that would be my preferred method.

I don't know what I'll be calling myself here, at least not yet. Forgive my indecision.

But... if I may ask, how are our worlds so different?

I believe there are ways to make the transmissions secure, but I don't think I'm able to do that. Still if you determine how it's done, you can contact me.

[He thinks a moment before he answers her question.]

There are many people here from many "versions" of Earth. Many things are the same, but there are major events that are different. For example, in my world, Lucifer rose from Hell and we had to stop him to prevent the Apocalypse. That may not have happened in your world. Your story is unfamiliar to me.

Alternate universes would be one way to look at it.

Until I find out, please call me by my alias, then. It may be ridiculous, but it throws people off.

[She looks incredulous, here.]

Lucifer... rose from Hell... But I wouldn't think it's so strange. I fought a man who controlled dinosaurs and another who turned balloons into hideous instruments of torment. Anything is possible. I, too, have an ability given to me by unseen forces.

Yes, it's possible for the same events to happen in both our worlds. I'm sure many did, you mentioned Jesus so that's one example. But the point is that some events didn't happen. That's what separates them.

[He looks interested at this.]

What kind of ability?

I met someone from my own world, with similar abilities, who had never heard of any of my associates nor the race we were in. Nothing is surprising to me here--other than you, I admit.

It's difficult to explain my ability. I can manipulate flesh, in a manner of speaking; disguises and bandages can be produced. I can also move body parts to other locations using the spray. [She perches her hat back on her head and pulls the strange metallic canister from her hip holster.] I'll show you, if you want.

Move body parts? [That's a new one, even for him.]

Yes, I would like to see that.
