Six. [video/action]

[Good evening, Thor!  If you're bored and flipping through your guide, you may come across the scene of a rather busy dinner show, in a relatively large theatre somewhere.  And although you can't see the announcer, you may or may not recognize his voice as one of the ship's many refugees...

Not that it matters.  The show is about to begin.]

Welcome ( Read more... )

basch fon ronsenburg, albert wesker

[So, Irene was in the audience for this dance show, expecting some quality showmanship of modern dance. Instead, she gets the lovely knight Basch... doing... whatever that was.
Having no care for the etiquette for televised shows (what's that, even?), Irene spontaneously rises from her seat and glides confidently out onto the dance floor. As she walks she addresses the announcer:]

Clearly, Mister fon Ronsenburg would fare better with a partner. If some classical music could be cued? Thank you.

[Standing before Basch, she smiles up at him.] If I may have this dance, dear?

[Wesker can't help but raise a brow at this woman, but he sees no reason why not. He has to suffer through the tedium of awfulness that's on the stage, too, you know. A nod to one of the people in charge of the comings and goings backstage, and after a brief pause, there's some classical music playing.]

[He can't help but comment.]

I doubt there's a cure for his disease of having two left feet.

Thank you. And, the cure is to have someone doubly in the right. [Just a touch of a joke there for you, dear.]

[Clever, Irene. Clever.]

That remains to be seen.

[Thank you, thank you, I'm here all night.]
[And indeed it does. Hopefully Basch can at least manage a waltz...]

[It's... really not going very well, is it.]

[No.

And Wesker is not surprised at all.]

[Irene sure is. How can a knight not dance? (So when Wesker said that Basch was 'mostly unsuited for any sort of dancing', he really meant 'totally unsuited for any sort of dancing', eh?)

...And she rather hopes that a couple certain gentlemen are not watching this. Else she might never hear the end of it.]

[Wesker might have been generous with his phrasing, sure. Just a little. Nonetheless, he is a scientist, and a scientist observes. A scientist also calls it as he sees it. And he saw a very, very bad dancer.]

[He'll just watch with assured amusement as the sight unfolds.

Just as a certain two gentleman would, I'm sure, if they saw this.]

[ooc-ish: So glad to be amusing~ The debacle is over now (thank goodness). Any last words before she leaves the room?]

[Basch stiffens visibly for a moment (since...well. He still hasn't apologized for...last time), standing in front of her somewhat comically awkwardly, before his chivalry kicks in and he takes her hand.]

...If you would.

[He's not sure how well he'll manage (it's been a LONG time), but he'll...attempt it.]

With pleasure.

[Drawing close to him, she whispers up into his ear,]

I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm a strong dancer, so just be calm and follow the beat.

[Once again, he stiffens somewhat, but he holds himself in what he remembers to be the 'proper' position, back straight, almost military.]

It has been quite some time.

[And a beat, and then:]

...I apologize for our last meeting. It was indiscreet of me.

Relax, dear.
[She moves her hand in a slight circle on his back, intending it to be a soothing gesture, and smiles easily at him.]

And there is nothing to apologize for. We are both consenting adults, and you were quite the gentleman.
So long as you remember my name, I will not take offence at all. [She winks at that. That time had been their first meeting, and quite the whirlwind it had been.]

...Lady Irene.

[It's spoken softly, as if to say I remember-- politeness on his part, but subtlety as well. He still looks somewhat apologetic, but the music starts and there's really no time for that anymore.

He hesitates, and then takes the first step, and awkward sidestep that's more like a shuffle than anything else.]
