012: [ VIDEO ] : "You're early." "Fashionably."

Aug 02, 2011 22:02

[Maybe interestingly enough, the video turns on to Holmes not looking as irate as he normally would-- the man looks less haggard than usual (comparatively), though that air of distance and lethargy still hangs over him like a little cloud that refuses to go. Though he discards his usual smug air of observance in favor of something less abrasive or ( Read more... )

[Play Clue, that's detective-y . Kind of.]

How 'bout you try finding out where all those Vogons sleep at night?

[It would actually be pretty hilarious to have him play Clue, BUT THAT ASIDE...

Thank you, Rikku, for actually giving him a suggestion. Or something.]

And what would be your major point of interest concerning the sleeping habits of Vogons?

[Go against the system, steal some records, find the poop, bypass having to do paperwork for her impending apartment, barricade their doors shut so they can't escape and no one ever has to listen to their eye-twitching, brain-breaking poetry again...]

Just curious~

[...Yeah, um, Rikku's intentions are never that believably simple.]

[Amusingly enough, Holmes can tell that she's not 'just curious', considering that she seems to have a good sense of where to find... 'excitement'.]

Curiosity is a good starting point.

But now the only question left to ask is: are you curious, too?

Curious enough.

Pray, indulge me regarding your ruses.

Well...

[Leans close, with every inch of her face exposing that oh-so-anticipated rascally twinkle. At least until a certain thought seems to sweep over and she withdraws hesitantly.]

Actually, y'know what? Maybe it's this place making me paranoid, but I'm feelin' like network discussing this is totally not secure enough.

Ah.

[He leans back from his Guide, exaggeratedly, as if to play along. It may be somewhat sarcastic, but he's not incapable of reading the mood.]

Of course-- the wires have ears.

[Nice tone there, Buddy, I'm just being careful.]

More like unwanted eyes. You never know who's watching over these sorta networks.

The downside of advanced technology. Though telegrams did have their share of interceptions, though those were less discreet.

[A quirk of the lips.]

Afraid of being watched?

Not afraid! [Just, you know, a little parano - I mean.]

Understandably so, if that's the case. We were always fearful of panopticons, long before the technology was available for it.

...perhaps this subject is enough for us to become suspect.

Panopticons? [Not sure whether that sounds lethal... or cute.]

A prison, of sorts, where the inmates are under constant surveillance.

[Not lethal nor cute, but certainly morbid...]

[Frankly, she's too surprised by that answer to fake an "Ahhhhh, right, yeah I totally knew that" cover. Rikku's face read far too blatantly and she knew it this time.]

Can honestly say I wouldn't've guessed that. So they had on-sight surveillance? Guards, I mean? [Or monsters?

Spira certainly wasn't dry of those as most places weren't advanced enough technologically.]

[he goes into his 'lecturing' mode, taking on that airy attitude that he's so prone to when he relates facts.]

A circular prison of sorts, in which the inmates are situated on the perimeter while the guards and surveillance occupy the center. A prison of the mind, I think it was referred to, since the inmates were constantly of the opinion that they were being watched.

Unpleasant, to say the least.
