The Sixth Case ~ [Audio]
These jobs are pathetic. [Ciel’s voice carries clearly. He is making no attempt to conceal his words.] Is a hot bath so much to ask for, Sebastian? [The query is clearly directed at the silent presence in the room. No, Ciel has not gone mad yet.]
[There is a quiet thump of books being stacked together.] I shall have it ready in several minutes, Young Master. [A shift of clothing.] Will you require my assistance tonight?
[A small sigh follows that query.] A massage would be acceptable. [He pauses.] After the bath.
Of course. [In the distance, hot water starts up, and then Sebastian’s footsteps return.] Speaking of, I never imagined that being a student would be a paid job. [He chuckles.] It will be interesting to see how rigorous their curriculum will be. Have you been assigned homework already?
[At the mention of homework, Ciel hisses under his breath.] I see no point in doing most of it. I will be paid either way, surely? [Yet he knows that won’t fly with Sebastian.] I would rather concentrate on my language studies. At least that can eventually help me in business. [There is a small splash as Ciel gets into the tub.]
Does that mean you are asking for more French lessons, Young Master? [Sebastian’s voice turns disturbingly cheerful, as it is wont to do when there is a prospect of torturing Ciel in some small way.] My teacher’s aide duties allow me access to an endless supply of references to look at. Perhaps we could add Latin to your repertoire of languages.
[As dreadfully boring as that sounds, Ciel can’t argue with the logic behind it - even if Sebastian thinks he is tormenting him in some way.] Perhaps. [His voice is tight.] But not all at once. That would be tedious. [There is the sound of swirling water as Ciel shifts to look at Sebastian.] I need to make contact with the captains of the ship, though I am told they are rodents.
I’m not quite as surprised as I should be, hearing that. [There is the soft sound of sluiced water-- he’s cleaning Ciel with a wash cloth.] Why do you need to-- [He pauses, and then footsteps near the NV.]
We really ought to keep a closer watch over these communicators.
[And then the feed turns off.]
