[The guide video comes on - and then promptly off again. And on again..and yes, you get the point. After a minute, the video remains on for a little longer - long enough to show Leonardo pressing different buttons on the guide, trying to work out exactly what the frack it is and what it's meant to be used for. So she will reply in some (19th century) Italian of her own:]
There are even more fascinating things to see once you get outside of that 'new arrivals' room.

[Also you're really beautiful - just fyi]

There are creatures the like you have never seen, lights that shine without flame, carriages that run without horses, and machines that reason like humans. And that is just the start, Signore.

Che suoni meravigliosi, e molto intrigante - questo è di gran lunga il sogno più vivido che ho avuto che io ricordi. Anche se, devo chiedere - sei inglese? *That sounds wonderful, and very intriguing - this is by far the most vivid dream I've had that I can recall. Though, I must ask - are you English?
[He can tell that her dialect is that of someone for whom Italian is a second language]

[Irene grins deeply when he supposes that this is a dream, and chuckles at his guess.]
This is no dream. And, well done. [She switches to English:] I am originally from America.
[The babel fish will translate what she said into his mind, but he will be able to tell she changed languages. Remembering how disconcerting it had been for her, she watches his face with faint amusement for his reaction.]

[He smiles slowly, realising that he understood what she said without any trouble]
America~
[The word seems to roll well with his accent, and his smile pretty much remains where it is]
What is it like there~? I've never really travelled out of Italia before

Have you not? You strike me as quite adaptable. I'm certain you would do well in any country. Although now, I should say any planet. [Giving that a slight roll of the eyes, she continues,] if you like, signore, it would be much easier to discuss this in person.

I shall come to you - I know where you are, and it will take some little time for you to grow accustomed to this place. It won't be but a moment.
[With a nod she turns off the Guide and makes her way over to New Arrivals - certainly a man dressed as he will be easy to find.]

[And so he waits, not turning off the guide (since he doesn't know how yet)]

Sure enough, the man with the old-style clothing and sketchbook is not hard to find. Coming to stand before him she greets him pleasantly and gives a slight curtsey.]
Signore. A pleasure to meet you in person. I am Irene Adler.

Leonardo Da Vinci - The pleasure is all mine, I'm sure

A good portion of the pleasure is mine as well, maestro Leonardo Da Vinci. Shall we?
[With a slight gesture she motions to the exit of the area. (If he hasn't done his paperwork yet, well, he can always get to it later.)]
Reply
[He allows her to lead him out of the room, attention span drawn very thin as he looks around as they go]
So, tell me - how many people are there here?
Reply
[That takes on a slightly sardonic double meaning as aliens walk by them in the halls.]
