Who just leaves all this ammo laying around? Half of it isn't even stored properly. As soon as it rains it will be ruined. Half of it is already ruined. This makes absolutely no sense.

Yes. Logic can't have been exclusive to Earth. If it were, how else would anything have survived long enough to invent ammo for leaving out in the rain?

It ain't much. Ya just have t'scrape up whatever they leave on the walls, floor n' ceilin' for a couple of hours. [Whoever 'they' are, even he isn't sure (and it'd debatable whether he actually cares enough to want to know).]
