An Angel & A Shinigami Walk Into a Bar † Audio

[The audio, like so many things, begins abruptly.]

-should’ve figured one of you guys would show up. I was just about to put the word out. [The first to speak is Gin, his voice getting increasingly louder as he comes back to where he left the guide. Contrary to his usually dry tone, he sounds rather somber at the moment.]

You remember my roommate, Ukitake?

[deansangel918]

Yes. I didn't know him well.

[wingsofsilver]

Yeah, well, then you're the lucky bastard today.

[deansangel918]

I'm sorry your friend is gone.

[wingsofsilver]

It's fine. I just... really didn't expect it. [. . .] Where are you right now?

[deansangel918]

I don't think anyone ever does.

... The gardens. [As usual.]

[wingsofsilver]

[He shouldn't ask, he shouldn't ask, he really shouldn't ask because shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.]

... think you can stop by later?

[deansangel918]

I can come now if you wish? Where are you?

[wingsofsilver]

[And a knot unwinds in his chest.]

Back at the room. I'm... trying to figure out what to do with all his stuff.

[deansangel918]

I'll go there now.

[And a moment later there's the sound of invisible wings in their rooms.]

[wingsofsilver]

[Gin is just kinda staring at the door to Ukitake's room, obviously hesitant to go near it. Velvet, in all her kitten-winged glory, is draped over his head and looking too. Strangely enough, today their relationship seems almost... harmonious.

At the sound of Cas arriving, Gin turns and blinks at him, seemingly slow to start, before finally realizing he should make some sort of acknowledgement of the other angel.]

Hey, Cas.

[deansangel918]

Hello, Gin.

[He walks over to join him at the door, but he's not sure what to say.]

You had known him a long time?

[wingsofsilver]

[That earns a low sigh as Gin reaches up to try and dislodge Velvet, giving up pretty easily when it's clear the kitten is willing to flex her claws to stay where she is.]

Longer than you, actually. Almost two years. [There's a pause, then a poor attempt at humor:] He was the first roommate I had that didn't drive me insane.

I'm sorry I didn't get to know him better.

[wingsofsilver]

You might get your chance. [And then, very, very, very, quietly...] Don't go anywhere, Cas.

[AND THEN HE BEATS A HASTY RETREAT INTO UKITAKE'S ROOM.]
