[He's looked into the matter on his own already, but all information seems to suggest there is little he can do to fix his current situation. Still, there's no harm in asking...]

I'm well aware that this is hardly an uncommon complaint, and I'm pretty sure I can already anticipate the kind of answers I'm bound to receive, but answers would be ( Read more... )

I have no answers for you, but I too face this problem.

Has anyone given you advice on this?

Ah, yes. As I mentioned, I'm aware that it's hardly an uncommon problem.

Alas, not yet. Though if I'm honest I didn't really think anyone would have anything useful to say on the matter.

I have only recently arrived, so I am not familiar with the ways of this ship yet.

But it seems to me that if this is a common problem, then surely someone must have found a way to correct it?

You would think. That doesn't appear to be the case, however. I can't personally speak for the malfunctioning Guides, as mine has been working appropriately since I arrived here, though you'd certainly expect there to be a simple way of dealing with other people signing you up for missions you have no interest in undertaking.

That is unfortunate.

I suppose I will need to pay more attention in the future and sign up myself before my brother can do it for me.

Or simply refuse to take on the mission you've been signed up for. I'm sure most people would prefer it if I refused to take on this particular job.

You don't get along with your brother, then?

That would leave my employer short-handed. There is no reason I cannot do the job I was assigned.

As for my brother, he likes to play tricks.

[Understatement of the century.]

What is your assigned task?

I'm sure someone else could just as easily take your place, though I suppose what you choose to do with your time is none of my concern.

Ah well, that's not uncommon among siblings, I think.

[His own siblings attempt to cause him serious bodily harm on a regular basis, but that's not something he's willing to bring up.]

'Bustier-wearing serving wench' were the exact words used in the job description. Not a position I would be well suited to. And yours?

[Not that he's really interested, but there's always the possibility that hearing about someone else's misfortune will make him feel better about his own]

I must kiss frogs to see if they will turn into princes.

[Well, that is a little funny, and supposes it's somewhat more repellent than being made to wear a bustier. Possibly]

How unfortunate. I expect you'll be at it for some time with very little success. The 'jobs' on offer here seem to make very little sense at all, most of the time.

So this kind of job is not unusual?

Not at all. Have you read through the missions listings? The majority of them are outright ridiculous, not what I would consider jobs at all.

No, I did not read through them after I found that my brother had already added my name to one.

Ah. Well, if you had you'd have found my description to be accurate.

I will have to read through them more carefully.

You said you are not suited to your job?

Given the job description and the clothes I'm expected to wear, it seems safe to assume that what they wanted were curvaceous women. I'm a man of slight build and therefore hardly appropriate for the task.
