[The video feed switches on to a sleepy-looking Holmes, who raises his head amidst a pile of rubble, looking slightly dazed.

He looks at his little tableside calendar that he got so many months ago, which is still set at 'October', flips it back and forth, and says:]

Is it November?

[A pause, and a realization:]

It's been more than a year.

Indeed it is November, dear.
[Good God, man. She'll make sure you're watching before performing a dramatic eyeroll.]
How you can afford to so completely lose track of time is beyond me, dear.

The time comes and goes, my dear-- most times I've no interest in keeping track of it.

[It's not like he has no sense of it. Just. When it counts.]

What other things did you miss from the start of this month then, I wonder?

[She imagines that the nature of the planet and the reward for the beauty contest would both pique his interest, if for different reasons it piqued hers.]

I've slept through the Drive and I've not signed myself up for a job this month.

So, in a sense, I've missed everything and nothing.

[Well, doesn't that make it easy for her.]

And I presume that also means you have missed learning the music I gave you? Or did you memorize it and then fall into your stupor?

[He gives her a look, as if to say 'really?', and then fishes out his violin from under a sheet, starting to play the first bars to one of the songs that Irene gave him to memorize.

That should speak louder than words.]

[And he starts playing a segment of it, stopping in the middle and then replaying it a bit slower, with less staccato.]

It doesn't quite speak to me here. I'm still in the process of unraveling it.

Mmm. I know the part. [She sighs slightly - there are many portions she is still 'unravelling'.] It is so much easier to sing than to play, but such is the challenge.

I'd rather not sing-- that would be your area of expertise.

[He says as he puts down his violin, raising a brow.]

All the same, it would be a pleasure to hear you try.
Sherlock is not too poor a singer, you know. [As if trying to get these two to perform a violin duet was not amusing enough...]

Then Sherlock will be the singer of us two. There, that lends itself to easier distinction between the two Mr. Holmeses.

Only if one hears each of you sing.

I can be the Mr. Holmes that doesn't sing.
