Monthly pay is perfectly manageable provided you have at least basic budgeting skills. And if you had failed to acquire said skills previously, consider this your opportunity to learn.

Monthly pay is just a pain in the ass when you make minimum wage, and don't have a savings. No amount of "basic budgeting skills" is gonna help you if you've got nothing to budget until the end of the month.

If you are referring to your current situation, the initial accommodations are rent-free and the credits provided should cover all but the most reckless of spenders until such time as you receive your first month's pay.

Of course, if you truly were struggling, perhaps your employer might be persuaded to pay a percentage to you now, just this once, though I'm sure they're reluctant to set precedent for this kind of thing.
