APPS HAVE BEEN MOVED HERE.

Apps posted on this page after the last November 2010 app round will not be accepted, but we're keeping the page here so that potential new members will have example apps to look at.

Hey! The app looks good so far! There are just a few points we'd like a little clarification on:

× Since you're taking Botan from just after she escorted Genkai to the Spirit World, we'd like to request a summary of the events between informing Yusuke that he's become a spirit detective and that point. We don't need a whole lot! Just a paragraph or two will do.

We'll give you until Saturday to edit, but if for whatever reason that's not enough time, we'll be more than happy to save your spot until next app cycle!

Thank you, and we're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause!

I apologize for this. 1/? mozarteffect July 17 2010, 03:22:40 UTC
Sorry, I really should have done that before but I was afraid the app was getting too long. Aaand I had to rush a bit with this because it's been a busy week and I'll actually be on vacation next week, so, I don't entirely mind if it's declined or something. :|a

In a less incoherent manner this time I skipped a lot, believe itUpon instating him as the spirit detective of the human world, Koenma and Botan go about introducing him to his new abilities and items whilst on his first mission, which is retrieving three items from a gang of three demons that stole it from King Enma's (Koenma's father) vault. Koenma tells Botan that Yusuke has one week to retrieve the items before his father gets back or else there will be dire consequences, much to her horror. First one is the Orb of Baast, which sucks out souls, and is being held by a soul-eating demon called Gouki. Our Hero sees the three demons (Hiei, Gouki and Kurama) and follows them to a clearing where they spout some exposition about what items they respectively have, then they get ( ... )

Botan reassures Yusuke that he saved all the souls when she catches him counting them. They awkwardly shuffle off through the city with Yusuke stubbornly limping along and Botan insisting that he should lean on her. There Yusuke meets the next demon, Kurama, who tells him that he doesn't want to fight and he'll return the Forlorn Hope to him within three days. Botan's doubtful that Kurama would stay true to his word as in three days there will be a full moon and she explains that the Forlorn Hope is a mirror that reflects the user's desire during the full moon and will grant it with a price, though she's not sure what the price is ( ... )

Then Keiko comes in to tell Yusuke to turn in his damn book report, which Botan finds amusing (although she hides behind him first, god knows). Much to Yusuke's horror as he hasn't told Keiko about his work as a spirit detective (although he…says that he hasn't turned in his book report because he's fighting evil? Again, god knows) and Botan seems to be under the impression that she knows, Botan starts talking to Keiko about how happy she is to meet her and that her daring rescue of Yusuke's body was so admirable. Yusuke corrects her immediately and Keiko gets the Wrong Idea about their relationship as Botan says "but if you ask me things are about to get complicated if you don't tell her soon." Which annoys her and makes her walk off in a huff, naturally ( ... )

I wish I had the ability to be brief, seems nice. mozarteffect July 17 2010, 03:24:44 UTC
Now Yusuke is getting his ass handed to him again and Hiei goes to drive the sword through him, but hey there's Kurama taking a hit for him and blinding Hiei's Jagan with his blood. Kurama explains that the other eyes on Hiei's body are only for body horror amplification and he'll take care of Keiko. So it's back into the fray for Yusuke, although he's still getting his ass handed to him, but Yusuke spies the glimmer of the Forlorn Hope and hatches a spontaneous plan. Firing off the spirit gun and reflecting the energy back at Hiei when it misses with the Forlorn Hope. And Hiei's down! And they give the antidote to Keiko! Why, that was brilliant, wasn't it ( ... )

Botan then conjures up her oar and starts…floating right in front of him, saying that she's pleased to meet him and that she's been watching him for a while and is impressed with his actions. Which understandably freaks Kuwabara out and makes him think she's a witch, but Yusuke says "oh don't be such a dope, she's not a witch she's the Grim Reaper!" because that's so much better He then explains that she's his assistant as the spirit detective and that they're tracking down a demon named Rando. So now Kuwabara is in on the mission, sharing such words of wisdom like agreeing that the mission sounds tough but the most important thing is that Yusuke isn't cheating on Keiko with Botan. Then he…proposes to Botan. Which confuses her. But Genkai breaks up their little love fest by saying they'll be disqualified if they don't get back in there and Botan rushes along with them. Apparently Genkai overheard them talking about the spirit detective thing and is amused that she attracted celebrities. Next match is the two joke characters, which ( ... )

Shorin then breaks his arm. Accompanied with Kuwabara's screams of pain. Are you horrified yet? Yusuke steps in to take his angry shonen protagonist vengeance on Shorin and more obscure stolen techniques come out. But Yusuke knocks him down! This is good, fight over, right? Of course not, it's a shonen anime, Rando reveals his true form and it all goes to pot as Yusuke's a teensy bit tired from fighting before aaand Mr. Demon's gone and copied his spirit gun. Botan demands that Genkai interfere with the fight so Rando doesn't win/kill Yusuke, but Genkai refuses saying she can't stop the process of choosing her next apprentice. Naturally, Botan is horrified by this and tells her that she'll be responsible for the lives that are lost when Rando uses her technique, but is shot down by Genkai insisting that progress must be made. Rando essentially drops Yusuke into a lake full of piranhas (which causes Botan to yell at Genkai again and demand that she pull him out of the water) and all seems lost until Kuwabara's soul flies out of his ( ... )

Actually getting into the castle, however, is a trial in and of itself as the Gate of Betrayal comes crashing down onto them and a little minion informs them that only one of them could make it through, leaving the others to die. Yusuke asks Hiei to pull the switch for them and unleashes some of his spirit power to make up for Hiei's share of the weight. Hiei's about to pull the switch, but hesitates, upon which the minion tries to tempt him into leaving the team and joining the Saint Beasts, which Hiei seems to accept and the minion says "the rock would have crushed you anyway." BUT THIS WAS A TRICK, Hiei scares away the minion by slashing it across the face, pulls the switch and dodges away from the rock. He insists it wasn't out of any sort of loyalty and they continue on to fight the first monster, the rock monster Genbu. He can move through rock and separate his body into several pieces as Kurama discovers whilst fighting him. Kurama holds his own with his Tuxedo Mask impression rose whip and destroys the equivalent of Genbu's ( ... )

Aaaand he beats him. Except it seems like Yusuke's died again, booo. Luckily, Kuwabara et al show up and Kuwabara starts infusing him with his spirit energy to revive him. Everything's just fine again and everyone goes back to their regular routine again ( ... )

Kuwabara manages to make telepathic contact with Yukina and tells her they're coming to her rescue, to which she tells them to bugger off and go back. There's a Reason in Her Past for this as a man once was killed for attempting to help her and she doesn't want to see that again, but that's not revealed until Yusuke and Kuwabara are fighting the Toguros, who are their last obstacle (bets are placed on this, too, for a lot of money. Sakyo still bets on Yusuke et al while the other members just observe). The older Toguro turns into a sword and the younger Toguro bulks up (he counts the amount of power he uses by percentage), understandably Yusuke tells Botan to get the hell out of the way. It doesn't seem they can beat Toguro, although a last ditch effort of TEAMWORK by Yusuke and Kuwabara causes Kuwabara to stab Toguro through the gut and he falls over ( ... )

Botan rushes down to be their trainer (she claims she's a licensed trainer, too, god knows) and Kurama goes on to the next fight. His opponent, however, decides to play dirty by threatening his human mother's life if he fights back. Kurama, not being a total idiot, tricks him into sealing his own fate and he explodes in flowers (yes, really) so now Hiei's next. He takes out his opponent with the Dragon of the Darkness Flame, which severely damages his arm. Then the funny drunk character with an inexplicable Australian accent comes in and Yusuke just decides to wake up. His name is Chu and he actually gives Yusuke a tough time in the fight, which horrifies Keiko but makes her realize Something Important about Yusuke. Well of course Yusuke wins ( ... )

And finally, finally Team Toguro demonstrates their power to a cannon fodder team, which is very unsettling to Team Urameshi, and Toguro confronts the weakened Genkai in a clearing very very very far away from everyone else. They have their last fight and he kills her, apparently this was his intent the entire time as they have history with one another. They won the Dark Tourament 50 years ago and Toguro wished to be a demon, much to Genkai's horror. This is where Botan is right now: though she knew ahead of time that Genkai was going to perish against Toguro, it still upsets her as she shuts herself in a bathroom and runs the water so Shizuru and Keiko can't hear her crying. She doesn't want to do it at first and asks Koenma if there's any way to reverse it, but obviously there isn't, though she does do it eventually it just…leaves her in a state.
