[the intercom switches on and the sound of a throat clearing can be heard]

...Well, that was remarkably inconvenient, wasn't it? This is your captain speaking! In case you haven't noticed, the gravity has returned, just as planned, and we have arrived safely and with only minor mishap at the planet Dessert, also just as planned!

As usual we will be in orbit for the remainder of the month, and shuttles to and from the planet are available for a moderate fee for all who have need of them.

Have fun, and don't forget the sunscreen!

[and the feed cuts]

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has this to say about the planet Dessert:

The first thing a tourist usually remarks on about the planet Dessert is the name, the result of a mistake by an anonymous early planet cataloger who was most definitely not affiliated with the Guide. The second thing they notice is the heat, which for most parts of the year is barely tolerable by most species.

Dessert is a desert planet, known for its rolling dunes, its spices, and, in an attempt to live up to the name, its desserts, often served flaming despite the scorching temperature. Dessertian leather boots are also famed for their unusual suppleness and scent.

Tourists are advised to stick to the cities as the deserts are home to a variety of dangerous wildlife as well as aggressive wandering nomadic tribes. Should you nevertheless choose to leave the cities, hitchhikers should remember their towels in case of sandstorm, though in a pinch, the commemorative T-shirts sold everywhere in the city ("But it's a dry heat!") will do instead.

There have long been rumors of enormous beasts beneath the sand, but quite frankly, they're most likely mere propaganda by the tourist department.

Shuttles will be available beginning tomorrow, and are, as last time, very affordable provided your character isn’t completely broke.

If you want to explore the planet, white clothes are recommended; going naked is not.

As a bonus for those with space ships: There are several more planets in the solar system, and at least one of them should be within travel distance. It's uninhabited, at least by sentient life, but feel free to make up anything about it!

The Lightning Post and job list will be posted shortly.
