Caterpillar Days; Eighth Leaf; Video

[As happens sometimes, the guide seems to have turned itself on, and is recording Chouno, who is finishing a painting.

It appears to be a self portrait at first glance-But those with sharper eyes will note that this 'Chouno' is nowhere near as pale, the chin is slightly sharper as opposed to rounded, the blackness around his eyes is far thinner and the boy in the painting is less muscular. The boy in the painting is smiling, and giving a friendly wave, but with a cruel look in his eyes-Before one looked at those purple eyes, they could think that the painted boy was happily waving hello to someone. Afterwards, it's clear that they're waving goodbye.]

Hhm.
[Chouno gives an amused little snort.]
Well Jirou. Late as always, of course.

[Jirou, by the way, is a name which literally means 'second son', and is, as you can guess, usually given to second sons.]

Of course, now you're late because you're dead. Funny how I only realised that on your birthday. Ah, well...I guess only thinking of you when it's too late was always your fate. You always thought you could just wait, but you ran out of time before I did.

Goodbye, Jirou. I hope we never meet again.
[And with that, Chouno very neatly tears the paper in two, screws the pieces up and tosses it casually into a waste basket.]

...How therapeutic~♥
