-020- [Accidental Video]
[The video blips on as the Guide drops onto what sounds like a wooden floor. The lapping of waves can be heard, as the Guide is kicked slightly, revealing Shinjiro busy hauling up a rather sturdy cable, dressed in his swim trunks and his white bandana. From the way the camera is rocking, and it is advised that people who get motion sickness might want to look away, it's clear he's on his crab fishing boat.]
[He grins when he hits some tension in the line.]
Alright, looks like we snagged a giant one!
...Hm? Ah, did we now?
[A light set of thumps on the wooden floor, indicating footsteps, and Ukitake bobs into the feed himself, a pale figure clad in khaki pants and a white button-up, shortsleeved shirt, hair for once pulled back at the nape of his neck with a cord. He comes up beside Shinjiro, clearly with the intention of helping him with the cable, but not before he visibly takes a glance down at what they're hauling up with some interest.]
Perhaps it would still be best to be careful...this isn't our first one, granted, but that last one was still a fair bit aggressive, if I recall...
[Shinjiro grins, creating some slack in the cable and handing it off to Ukitake.]
Here, hold onto this for a second. I gotta prepare.
[He reaches up and pulls off his bandana, tying it swiftly around his eyes.]
[Ukitake takes the cable bemusedly, if not automatically......and blinks at Shinjiro as he proeeds to blindfold himself.]
...Shinjiro-san, what are you...?
Urahara wants me to take these things on blindfolded. I haven't really had the chance to yet, so I'm gonna start now. Haul it up whenever you're ready.
[And with that, he readies himself, bending at the knees, ready to move and strike.]
[Ukitake, however, just...stares blankly at him, a combination of bafflement and just a bit of alarm beginning to creep onto his features.]
You're going to...what? What does Kisuke-san have to do with--
He wants me to fight and take down these giant crabs while blindfolded. Now's as good a time as any, since they come up immediately on offensive. So, whatever you do, don't tell me.
...Shinjiro-san, are you sure this is the best place to test out something like that? Much less - well, blindfolded...
I haven't had time, otherwise. And we'll be leaving this planet soon too. I can't just gve up on it and not try.
[There's a moment of tangibly hesitant silence, in which Ukitake visibly frowns at him. Then, with a sigh, he bends over and begins tugging up the cable with surprising swiftness, considering his frail-ish appearance, now all the more emphasized by his current lack of layered clothing.]
I suppose you already have your head set, in that case. Honestly, though, I don't know why Kisuke-san would put you up to something like this, I hardly see the merit in it... You'd better be careful.
[Shinjiro's grin fades to a bit of a smile at Ukitake's worrying as he prepares himself. His legs slide apart slightly and he lowers his head, appearing to listen intently. With a crash, the giant crab breaches the surface, left pincer leading, which Shinjiro easily ducks despite the swaying of the boat. He narrowly dodges the followup strike as it whips its left claw back around, and while he's bent low, drives his right fist up into the underside of the crab to stun it, ceasing its thrashing.]
[He stays still for a moment before straightening up with a grin.]
Ha! Did I get it? Is it stunn--
[As he moves to turn, his foot catches the line, wich immediately throws him off balance. With a tumble and a cut off curse, he stumbles over the side of the boat and hits the water with a splash.]
[Ukitake had backed away quickly as soon as the crab had breached, obviously not wanting to get in the way]
[and then]
[the latter promptly falls off the boat]
[cue Ukitake dashing over to that side with all due alarm, for once quite forgetting the stunned giant crab]
