I've held back my opinion on this subject for a long time, mainly because everything of value was being said by other people and I had nothing original or substantive to add. Yeah, when you throw in the fact that gender is not rigid and binary... it really brings the insanity of this whole thing to the surface.
What the hell is a legal gender anyways?
Maybe it's as simple as having one of the same-sex partners go and change their legal gender and THEN getting married! ;-)

(Probably has something to do with genitalia... but then it STILL throws a wrench into the works when you're talking about post-op trans people wanting to get married... but of course, those kinds of people don't exist and would therefore never be getting married, right? :-P )
