GenConOz where I meet David Nykl and Paul McGillion

GenConOz was on again, Saturday, but I got in there a little later than I hoped for. I had work that night, and had to leave no later than 3.30pm. This will be text then the photo for what it is about. (If there is a photo to be had)

First up...straight to the photo area to see if I could catch a glimpse (and hopefully a snap) of Paul McGillion!!! David Nykl was also there!!! I paid for my autographs after much running around looking for an Atm to withdraw money. Finally I got back, but Paul was about to leave. I'd gotten David Nykl's autograph, told him the story of how Joe Flanigan couldn't spell my name right..."k...e...l....l? okay, l...i...one i or two i's?...i...n...m or n?...n" David wrote "I can spell" on the autograph to me.

Paul wandered over when he was told I was waiting, and came up to raise a hand to my cheek, telling me I had very similar colourings to his sister...blue eyes, brown hair, etc...He signed the autograph and posed for a picture, which he didn't mind doing.

David Nykl was on stage next, so I grabbed myself a front row seat (yay!) right in the middle! (double yay!) and right infront of the stairs, so I silently prayed for him to fall directly to my lap!!! David looks around the curtain before coming up on stage...so cute!

Up on stage now and he talks of a few things. Let me get my notebook of doom and show it to you.

He says McKay talks to much. He enjoys it when David Hewlett gets his lines wrong...it's a temper tantrum of massive proportions!

Zelenka should have a hat. Very similar to the one he sports.

He also does a great Wraith impression, and is very iffy saying who his favourite director is, along with who his favourite expedition leader is.

He did an awful aussie accent! He didn't do a Czech accent for us on the Saturday, but he did break out into Spanish.

He also enjoys working with Kavan Smith (yes, Inkscribe, that question was asked).

He took the stage, and was wonderful with the quarter filled room. I don't think people think of David Nykl as a "star" of Atlantis, but the people who did join in the audience were very good. I got front row centre...so I kept praying he would fall off the stairs straight into my lap! We came up with a lot of questions, and as I did with Joe Flanigan and Connor Trinneer back in Armageddon, I asked for an impression of a Wraith! He stood with his left hand straight down, raised his right hand far out, with kind of a limp wrist and a "rarrr" motion, and in a deep voice...."Doctor Woolsey!"

I asked him what his weirdest moment at a convention was, and he replied that he loves them, that there are no real weird moments. He enjoys meeting people, enjoys the stories, the excitement, etc etc.

Rest of Saturday...including the fantastically wonderful Paul McGillion in the next post.
