Okay, so where was I?
Oh yeah...Saturday, Afternoon. The one where Paul McGillion got up on stage.
I don't think, first of all, that I mentioned that Friday, David Nykl was supposed to have the stage. But because of lack of people, he didn't go up. No one showed. His appearance on Saturday morning, had maybe half a crowd, if that.
So, I was luck enough to get *another* front row seat! He came out to quite a bit of applause, and this is where it gets fuzzy...because Paul...he's right there!.
And I am right at the front of the stage, staring up at him like some lovely thing.
Okay...so what he talked about:
He started out with the story about his parents when he first got the role as a Scottish Doctor on Stargate. How his parents insisted it was Star Trek. I know, this is a story I've heard before, but honestly much funnier in person. It's very well practised I must admit, but it's totally original too.
He does a marvellous Joe Flanigan voice. Seriously. You can just see it.
He insists, with much bantering between himself and David Nykl (who was drinking a Crown Larger at the back of the room), that it was David Hewlett who kissed him, and not the other way around. According to David Nykl, it was not how he saw it at all. There was much squeeing in the crowd over that.
He lives in Vancouver with his brother, and has some view over the ocean (?).
I asked him to do an impression of a Wraith, but he politely declined. I understand personally that he has a career to think of, and yes, it was being recorded. So yeah, it's cool. We did get to hear how much he hated Wraiths...apparently, they're creepy!
So quiz time comes up, right? (Bear with me on this one). He has two things to give away...first the daily script from one day, and then, a full script...which would be personalised and signed by him as a reward for getting the question right.
Question the first: "In the first episode, Rising Part two, where McKay and Beckett are on the balcony, looking at Teyla and Sheppard...who are the two recurring characters that walk past in the background?"
People put their hands up, no idea...I knew one! Yay me! Put my hand up and got picked. "Bates!" I yelled. "Yes! Bates!" he replied, "But who was the other?"
Someone else raised their hand and answered "Stackhouse!" and so they won. They got both names where I only got one. *pout*
So we get to the 2nd question.
"In an episode, and I need both the name of the person who says it, and then name of the episode...they say 'Buck up Carson!'"
I know this one...why would I not?
I raise my hand and get picked again.
"John Sheppard!"
"Yes" Paul yells, "What was the name of the episode?"
"Argh...it's got McKay in it!"
"Every episode has McKay in it!"
So I'm fretting about finding out this episode name when he picks another hand.
"Irresistable" the person yells out.
"That's right!"
So they won a script.
I pouted...boy did I pout!!!
**
After Paul left the stage, I did my thing, and a little later, before I left, I wandered over again to say thanks and bye to Paul and David. So Paul told me I asked a great question, to which I replied "Yeah, thanks, I'm just annoyed at myself because I didn't get the answers right to your quiz."
He looks at me, and says "Hangon, you got one part of each question right, didn't you. Wait here."
So I'm talking to the person looking after him, when he comes back with the daily script to the episode Conversion.
He signs it for me, and I must have had the stupidest grin on my face.
"To lovely Kelin, 1/2 and 1/2 make winner! xoxo *signature*"
He gave me a lovely smile back and had a chat for a few more minutes. I wished him well, and told him bye, and offered my hand, which he took, and gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
I was *floating!!!* OMG!!! Seriously...all the way home...you guys...srsly.
