“You have your eye on anyone?”
Such a simple question to a mouse, creating a whole new problem for Rodney to solve yet again.
“Erm, not really.”
“Actually, I was talking to the mouse.”
And then he'd turned around and saw Carson smirking, making like a Charlie's Angels pose with a labcoat and needle, and all rational thought escaped him and his brain went offline as he realised this man could be something more than just a friend.
Months he'd known Carson. A few short months, and how had he come so undone in that small amount of time.
“But now that you mention it, some of those Athosian women were pretty hot.”
No. No. No!
That wasn't what he meant to say.
It was wrong.
He wasn't supposed to be sidetracked by Carson's eyes or voice.
He wasn't supposed to remember the fantasy he'd gotten off to just weeks before, thinking of blue eyes and skillful hands gliding across his skin, imagining the whisper of Scottish brogue in his ear for a fleeting moment before he'd come harder and more breathless than he had in years.
Then he felt the needle press sharp and stinging in his arm and all hell had broken loose.
He'd known afterwards, those few scant moments after his DNA manipulation, Carson had also manipulated his feelings.
