I knew the books first, but the TV series is great too, and there are loads of episodes on youtube.When I tried to nominate characters for The ( Read more... )

Interesting. I do enjoy both series. I also Read The private life of Sherlock Holmes plus some other ones, then watched them. Also all the BBC Sherlock's. Now like reading the FanFic stories.

Cool, another fan! I also read The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes novelisation before seeing the film, but I think most people don't even realise there is a novel.

True, when I had watched BBC Sherlock, I started looking and now have all the movies and all the books. Enjoy it so much

Good luck! Herriot is a brilliant choice for yuletide.

I requested or offered Herriot a few times other years, but it never came up in my assignment. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it does this year!

Hmm, the one time I signed up for Yuletide I couldn't do the prompt (Moomins something-or-other) and I've felt ashamed ever since ;_;

The first year I signed up for yuletide, I had exactly the same experience (not with Moomins, I mean, but another fandom). However, then I discovered that dropping out of yuletide (unless you do it at the very last minute) creates absolutely no problems at all for the mods. In fact there's an enormous list of pinch-hitters, and pinch hit are generally claimed literally within minutes of them being posted. So I stopped feeling guilty about it and just signed up again the next year! :D

I certainly remember All Creatures Great and Small. I really enjoyed the books and to a somewhat lesser extent, the series.

I actually didn't realise that there was a novelisation of Private Life of SH. Now I have to find it. I did like watching my restored copy of the movie. What a pity it was so badly butchered in the released version.

The format of yuletide has never made much sense to me, I'm afraid. You are very very brave to sign up for it.

I have never seen the full version of Private Life, only the cut version, but it's on my wishlist!

Yuletide is rather scary. I've often been matched on the fandom I felt least confident writing. But the good thing is there's a period where you can drop out without any negative consequences to either yourself or the mods. They have a huge mailing list of pinch-hitters waiting to snap up the prompts of any one who drops out.
