It is, isn't it? I hope people won't be put off reading it just because it's gen in an obscure verse. It makes me wish I had tumblr or twitter or whatever, to post a rec there about it, as I often see people do nowadays on those sites. (Gosh, I sound like I still live in the Stone Age, but anyway, you know what I mean...)

I finished it a couple of days ago and think it's as good as any novella on the shelf in the mystery section of the bookstore I went to last week. Really top-shelf. Like a film or TV script. I have a passing familiarity with the new Russian 'verse (mostly for the Watson, whom I like and the boxing), but I don't see that as a hindrance, even if you were completely new to it.
