Silly Happy Things

I have not see the film 300, probably because I am not, even slightly, a member of its target audience. But this clip of it set to the 1982 song by the Weather Girls, has made me happy everytime I’ve looked at it. What silly thing makes you happy?

This has nothing to do with the YouTube clip, but I did have one of those gorgeous serendipitous moments this morning. I was listening to NPR report on the death of Slava Rostropovich, whose Bach Cello Suites are so elegant, intellectual, passionate, cerebral, beautiful. And the voice sharing that sad news with me was a certain JF-W, whom I immediately connected to you. The disparate tesserae of my life do not often come together, but they did this morning.

That is so nice to know. He had worked on the obit in January and while I was sad that Rostropovich died, I was glad that Jeff was part of the good bye. I am well -- pulling weeds, drinking tea (have you ever had Yorkshire tea?) and trying to finish new book. Is Spring creeping through New York? No city is nicer when it's there, although DC has amazed in with is explosion of color.
