o luk poetry

This was a homework assignment for AP Lit from when we were reading Canterbury Tales. It had to be in iambic pentametre, which is not even easy for an entire poem. There were some other rules, but who curr about those.

So, yeah, here it is.

A mischievous grin with glinting eyes
Held secrets, a wonderfully wicked surprise.
Across busy towns, through the crowded streets
Flashes of dazzling grins to those she meets.
She smirks and sometimes blows kisses their way.
"I'm gonna be sick!" is what they say.
The comments are always ignored, you see,
'Cause she is proud (or so it seems to be).
Concealing garments, hats covered in lace,
Shadow prominent brow and manly face.
With perfect makeup, she was quite the queen,
But, when taken off, is another scene.
A haggard face, (and here she must falter),
Thinks back on her day at the altar,
And facts that were heard by the lovely groom,
Mainly like, "Your wife uses dudes' restrooms!"
