Quick Thoughts

- The Circle of Trust application on Facebook is bothering me. Multiple people have voted a low level of trust for me. Sure, it's a vague question... how much do you trust this person? And, admittedly, I wouldn't trust me in a room full drunken, intelligent nymphomaniacs. Nor would I trust me not to kill my son before he grasps basic logic. But I ( Read more... )

Does this app correlate trust with familiarity? Because I know a bunch of people that I wouldn't say that I trust, not because I distrust them, but simply because I don't know them well enough to actually trust them...

Just pointing out one possibility.

Agreed. Actually, if you don't know the person personally, you're technically supposed to select the "I don't know this person personally" box, but it wasn't obvious when I was running through this.

Honestly, I find the Chainn apps (like Circle of Trust) to be interesting social experiments. I know who I am and who I aspire to be, but it's interesting to reflect on what other people may be thinking of me because what they know of me.

I'm guessing, though, that there's no step between "I don't know this person" and "I don't trust this person." For example, "I don't know this person enough to trust them yet." I can think of plenty of people that I know personally, but don't know well enough to trust with, say, my kid.

Dude. I love you dearly and have known you forever. So, within that context, I believe it falls to me to slap you and remind you it is facebook!!! In return, I expect that the next time I get squirrelly over El Jay you will remind me that this is a hobby!!! and I will (one hopes) come to my senses.

I will vote for you just the same if you want, how the hell does one do this? Do I have to get a facebook? I'm that cat macro DO NOT WANT! as far as facebook goes.

You're only allowed to slap me and remind me its facebook if leather and baby oil is involved. I'd love to have you as my facebook friendtrophy and love to have you stuff my ballot box to inflate my ego, but I don't want you to do it for me.

But seriously, I'm not taking this personally... more of an introspection of how people could be perceiving me. Like those anonymous student comment forms where you go... "where the hell did that one come from?"

And I've never found you squirrelly over here. I've seen you bristle over other people getting squirrelly, but that's completely understandable. It's not that it's just a hobby, it's that there are many more relevant things to worry about.

Oh, and by the way, I love love love your palindrome icon. I should make one of me holding a rag.

Huh?! I don't need another facebook application. ;)

Congrats on getting a 360 & Rock Band. When our Jacob wants to play drums, we set them up, but don't plug them in. I think I mentioned in my LJ that I gave up the singing part after one time. I just couldn't redo every song, over & over...
