I just finished the Gregg Araki film Mysterious Skin with Joseph Gordon Levit. This was one hard film to watch; it deals with several really dark issues including child molestation, rape, and male prostitution. I almost turned it off twice, but I'm glad I didn't. I just need to view 'Doom Generation' and I've taken these three in.... quite the viewing. Not great date material to say the least... Ha!

The 3rd film in the trilogy I believe is called Totally Fucked Up, one of his earlier films The Living End is even more jarring. It's about a pair of gay guys who get HIV go on a hedonistic, dangerous journey, their motto "Fuck the world".

Have you seen Totally Fucked Up? I haven't seen it and I can't find it any place. Is it any good?

I'll have to check out Nowhere and Doom Generation. I rented Mysterious Skin last year. Made the mistake of watching it before bed. It was hard to get that movie out of my mind to sleep, but it was a good film.

You will see Gregg Araki all over the other two films, Doom Generation is a lot funnier than Nowhere but it also has a really really dark ending which sort of comes out of nowhere-no pun intended.

I own Myserious Skin and it is one of my faves. However, I had no idea about the other two.... Must check them out. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Mysterious Skin was a really good movie. I enjoyed it a lot. PLUS the soundtrack is always on my pod playing.
