I'm thinking its time to upgrade my aging 5.1MP Sony Cybershot camera, and thinking of going into a more entry level digital SLR variety.
The only one I see that's new & reasonably priced is the new Sony / Minolta one that just came out recently - the Alpha DSLR-A100.
Anyone heard any good/bad experiences out there or is it too new?

Nikon D50 or Canon Digital Rebel XT. I think those are the only two I see most sites recommending consistently.

I'm not a huge Sony fan because near' every piece of equipment I've purchased of theirs has broken ( ... )

well, one of the reasons i was looking at sony is because this one had CF, but also came with MS support through an adapter.

Seems to be a distaste of Sony from several here so worth
rethinking.
