How I ended up in DC

So, I'm now working in Rockville, MD, for a company called Emmes that does computer work for medical research.
The long story... )

That's really funny because last night at rjmccall's (with shiue) we were trying to remember what the heck Noble was up to. This explains that as well as what you're up to -- did you at least get the teaching degree? I've been kind of wondering what it would take to get one if I decided to go that path on this side of the Pacific.

But good for you getting a job, anyway! My brother lives VERY close to Rockville, near the Wheaton mall, so hopefully we can hang out next time I'm in the area there.

No, I didn't get the teaching degree. The program required 30 credits (roughly 3 semesters) plus one semester of student teaching, and I completed 18 credits.

It would have taken me another year for the rest of the credits plus the student teaching requirement. That would be enough for certification - if I wanted the masters degree, a few extraneous math courses would be necessary because not everyone agrees on the definition of a math minor.

It's conceivable that the missing 12 credits might be completed via evening classes while here in Rockville, but I'm not willing to stir that pot until I have a much better handle on the intensity level of work here.
