I see Chrono Trigger up there as an RPG. What other RPGs would you recommend? I've had an underlying craving to play something I haven't played before, and it's been awhile since I've played a new RPG.
Recommending an RPG is rough... It depends on the styles of RPG's you like and what consoles you have access to...
I enjoyed the crap out of Dragon Quest 8, but it has some flaws that I know some people wouldn't be able to forgive it for. Most notably the repetetive turn-based battles. I like turn-based fights, but the combat system wasn't deep enough for my liking. I didn't hate the fights, but I didn't have as much fun with non-boss fights as I have had in other games. The character and enemy design is wonderful (especially enemy design). And the writers/translators added some nice bits of humor to NPC dialog and the story.
If you're going to play Dragon Quest 8, I must first warn you that it is LONG, approximately 60-80 hours long, depending on how fast you like burning through RPG's...
oh no, it was a bit more than that... I got Chrono Trigger for $13, FFV for $5, random NES games were $1 each, multitap for about $3... it was a probably around $40 for the stuff I listed (Sword of Mana and Parasite Eve were a bit more)
