This is the journal of my journey threw trying to get gastric bypass surgery. If you want added, ask & then maybe I'll let you see my thoughts & experiences.
That is wonderful & I hope everything goes well for you. Did you do it on your own or through insurance and if so which company? We recently transfered to bluegrass family health & hopefully they will approve it and pay for it. When I go to the phsyciatrist on Tuesday, we're going to take all my information to the Dr. who will be doing the surgery & he's going to send all that information into my insurance company.
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you weigh or a rage would be good. I'm not completely morbid but my BMI is around 43% so some may consider that morbid. I'm just unhealthy with PCOS, Insulin resistance, etc.
Hopefully, you can tell me as much as possible about your surgery & whatnot. My mother had it two years ago in November, but she had hers approved in a week by our other insurace *Anthem* then after that they stated it was excluded from here on out, so yeah. I've been trying for a year, etc. But whatever you want to share will be great. ;]
I'm so sorry that I just saw this reply tonight! My insurance is called Weyco, and I don't know if it even exists outside of Michigan. They made me to 6 months of Weight Watchers before approving me, which irritated me to no end. Of course, it all worked out in the end, just like it seems to have for you! :-)
I'm 5'3" and started off at 280 pounds with a BMI of 49.6. Now, 4 months later, I weigh 201 with a BMI of 35.6. I also suffer from PCOS, Insulin Resistance, Hypothyroidism, Infertility, Depression...well, you get the idea. :-) Actually, at my 3 month appointment, my IR and Hypothyroidism blood tests were in the normal range, so I don't have to take those meds any longer.
Anyhow, I'm thinking wonderful thoughts for you, and good luck with your preop testing on Tuesday and then the Big Day next Monday! :-)
