Kyuhae drabble, PG, 247 words
Kyuhyun misses when "I love you" had meant nothing more than "I love you," like the time when Donghae had spontaneously presented him with flowers, or maybe the time when he'd taken Kyuhyun to watch the sunset on the beach.
"Because I love you," was what Donghae had always said, because he'd loved Kyuhyun. And Donghae had meant it, and Kyuhyun had taken it for what it'd been worth, because he would've been a fool not to.
Kyuhyun misses those moments, back when "I love you" had left him in love, because now when Donghae says it his voice is always regretful, like the time when Donghae spontaneously leaves a letter of apology to Kyuhyun on the kitchen table, or maybe the time when Kyuhyun takes Donghae to the airport to see him off.
"Because I love you," is what Donghae says now. Kyuhyun takes it for what it's worth, even if it makes him a fool in doing so, because he hopes that Donghae will one day mean again what he once used to.
"Because I love you" had used to leave Kyuhyun in love, because Donghae had used it out of love and compassion. Now, "Because I love you" leaves Kyuhyun in tears, because Donghae uses it out of fear and sympathy.
Because "I love you" becomes a last grasp of the past, of what once was. Because "because I love you" no longer meant "because I love you," but "because I don't love you anymore."
