That's my life at the moment
Went to the gym tonight after work. I have a new three day programme which my instructor downloaded from annoyingclient.com I'm assuming. Although I have (I dispute the result, given it was one of those internet tests and fairly suspect) an IQ of 170 (if that were true, I'd be in a different job, I just do well in tests) I misinterpreted the instructions.
Day 2 said go up in 5kg lots, I put 5kg on each side of the bar. I got to the 4th set and thought my wrists were going to snap off. It was some weird combo of dead lifts, power cleans, squats, something else, in sets of five, then the same again with an increased weight. I got such a ribbing from my trainer when I said it was too heavy (about double the weight it was supposed to be). I countered with stop mocking me or I will beat you to death with this barbell. Then I had to do my kickboxing/cardio class, i was much improved from the previous week in terms of skill. You couldn't really use it in a fight though, it's just punches and kicks to music. If you wanted to defend yourself, you'd be better off buying a gun and going to the target range.
So the only thing I've watched tonight is Courtney Cox Arquette's Cougar show. It was on at 8pm, which I thought was a little surprising, given the subject matter. I guess there was no nudity, and most of the more adult content was implied rather than shown, but I think it's a little early to put it on.
The show was actually better than I'd thought, although I don't think I'd watch it again. It has it's own niche, and I don't think I fit into it. Courtney Cox is actually a better actor than I'd given her credit for, although given that she is a producer I think she has more free reign over her character than those she's played in the past. Courtney's character is newly divorced, although the ex is still a part of her and her son's life. So much so that in this episode he takes a job as a caretaker in his son's school, much to the sons embarrassment. To be fair, I think the son is more embarrassed about what the other kids are saying about his mom.
It's not the show I thought it was based on what I'd heard about it. Which was, lots of sex and not much else. There is a plot, there are issues relevant to what everyday people face, although as usual, the solutions are more fantasy than reality. But hey, if tv only reflected real life, we'd be watching documentaries eh?
