I feel sorry for Sheyla

Don't laugh, but think about this: Are Roslin & Adama Sheyla done right?

I never watched BSG so I can't comment on that, but I'll agree that any ship would work if written correctly. The big mistake they made with Sheyla was to break the "show, don't tell" rule. They talked about it but didn't show it on screen. They seemed genuinely shocked every time someone saw Sparky and never did understand how anyone could question Sheyla. As late as the ComicCon right before S5 aired, Brad Wright said there was something between John and Teyla because he had saved her life so many times. WTF was he smoking? And Gero said the relationship would be developed more in S5. I'm not sure what part of she's pregnant with Kanaan's baby he didn't understand. I guess he didn't get that particular memo ( ... )

yeah, we could go on about this all day. I remember seeing a clip of BW in early s1, I think, saying "there is no ship on SGA". And it seems like they kept that idea, even forgetting about the one they were meant to be writing.

I also remember seeing something at a con (on the web) where someone asks about Shelya in s5, and Gero sort of bats it away with "she's just had a baby..."

Saving someone's life is a ridiculous illustration of love, expecially considering John is an Air Force officer. And a decent human being. They generally don't let people die if there's anything they can do about it

And if you start from the "fact" that John lurves the people he saves, does that mean he loved those two guys who he risked his life and his carreer over in Afghanistan?

Oh god, maybe there's some truth in the legacy novels :p

That just goes to prove anything can be twisted to suit your needs, sadly

Oh no!! I loved Roslin/Adama!!

I think it was because it was the furthest I've seen a ship go on tv, and yet they were still their own people.

I wouldn't put it on a par with sparky, as the characters and the show are completely different, but I totally got into it. And then vowed not to ship again :p

I totally loved the Adama/Roslin ship. Two people who started out as enemies, but slowly and steadily found a common ground and a reason to work together. Because of that, they got to know each other better and suddenly seemed to realize that they cared a heck of a lot more about each other than friends should.
I love it!! It's believable, it's written almost perfectly, the actors acted it out awesomely... made of pure win!!
Comparing that to John/Teyla is blasphemy :^p

All kidding aside, you're right. John/Teyla could have been awesome, but tptb/tptw frakked it up! And instead we got one of the most amazing UST ships ever on tv!! Denied by both tptb and the actors, but oh so visible even if you're blind. And it made many people wonder of tptb and the actors actually watched their own show ;^)
Could have been awesome, but turned sour. Welcome to Atlantis!!

Initially, I almost anti-shipped them. That is to say I ignored all of the signs (I recognised them, but didn't think they'd end up together) and tried not to be invested in it.

Needless to say Sine Qua Non blew that out of the water
