"The sound is doing something to my eye. Feels like it's melting my brain."

At around 8 pm last night, I heard a weird beeping noise. It didn't beep very often at first, but over time, it started beeping more regularly. I checked my smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, but they were fine. I went downstairs to check the ones in the hallway. Fine. I listen at the door of the 2nd floor apartment. A ha! No big, I think. He'll ( Read more... )

Do you have a landlord you can contact to come check it out? Or maybe they have phone numbers to reach this person. Ack.

I finally did break down and call the landlord because it was really making me crazy. I left him a message, but the guy got home sometime after I went to bed last night, so he fixed it. Yay!

Night before last was bad, but I was rummaging around in a drawer last night and found some ear plugs! Ah, silence. And it was off when I got up this morning. Hooray!

Nothing an axe and the ability to remove batteries couldn't fix. I would have gone one of two ways in your situation. The first would have been to put on electronica that was percussionally on par with the failing battery. The secnd one-see above...

Ooh, electronica. That would have worked! The beeping went away sometime during the night so I won't have to pick up an axe on my way home tonight...

God, I hate phantom beeping. Usually when I have that problem, it's because Sue left her cell upstairs and the battery is dying, but last time it was a smoke detector...in a room that I didn't even know had a smoke detector. Took me ages to track it down. (The worst part is that the beeps are frequent enough to drive you nuts, yet spaced out enough to make it difficult to locate the source. Grr.)

*hugs*

Phantom beeping... hee! I hate it, too. If I hear anything repetitive that I can't identify, I annoy everyone around me going, "What's that noise? You don't hear that? How can you not hear that?"

They'll thank me when the Unibomber comes for them and I save the day. :D
