So . . . about that Scott Pilgrim thing . . . .

*GRIN*

It was EPIC.

Seriously - you need to go see this movie!
But!! Before I go any further let me go back to the beginning of the evening.

I got stuck on a call at the last part of my work day that took me to 4:30.  I had planned to already be home and getting ready by then - commence stressing!

I finally get off my call and zoom to the parking garage, attempting to call TheBF on the way.  I had spoken to him earlier in the day and he wasn't too thrilled about going to the movie, said he wasn't feeling well and that he'd have to see.  I told him he needed to let me know sooner rather than later what he was going to do because I wasn't really down for flying solo.  So, knowing his general attitude toward the entire thing, the fact that he was NOT answering the phone wasn't helping me feel any better.  But I was still excited and ready to get changed and get to the theater.

I pull into the driveway, get into the house and find TheBF sitting in his recliner in the living room.  He appears to be ready to go so I drop my purse and run to the bedroom to change.  I get back into the living room and he tells me that the shirt he wants to wear is in the wash and that he still has to take a shower.  By this time it is 4:50.  I'm trying to not freak out but I was seriously let down.  I wanted to scream at him: "How could you NOT be ready to go?!?!" but I held myself together and at about 5:15 called the theater to ask about the screening.

The guy who answered the phone told me that the theater was about half full. My RSVP stated that it was the guarantee of a ticket but not a seat so I was mildly worried.  After I got off the phone TheBF and I got in to a bit of a dust up about his general attitude towards the whole thing.  I almost cried.  It was stupid.  All that matters is that we finally left the house at 6PM.

Have you ever experienced Houston traffic at 6PM?  I wanted to die.  I was driving and it was starting to feel like we were NEVER going to get there but we made surprisingly good time.  Much thanks to the Gods of Traffic for that!!  By the time we got to the theater it was just about 6:30 so TheBF dropped me at the curb and went to park.  I skipped to the building and this is the site that greeted me when I walked in:

The line goes up the stairs, follows the along the right wall and snakes back around to the left, stopping at the entrance to the individual theaters.

I'm sure that the look on my face was priceless but I sucked it up and took my place.  After about 15 minutes the people in the middle of the stairs (where you see all the black shirts) left allowing us to move up.  By the time TheBF reached me there were rumors that the theater was full and no one else would be admitted.

If looks could kill TheBF would have been half-dead at that point because I was certainly giving him the stink-eye.  "We could go see Toy Story 3" he offered.  I didn't reply.  We stood there in silence for about 5 minutes before TheBF pointed out that there was something happening on the landing above us.  A woman was addressing the crowd but we couldn't hear her.  Tired of hearing from people that the theater was full and not knowing what was really going on I marched my butt on up the stairs, TheBF at my heels and presented my RSVP to the woman, asking her:

"Does this get me anything?"

"Oh! Yes!" she exclaimed, smiling "You're VIP, go on in!"

I don't doubt that the astronauts on the space station could see my grin!!  TheBF and I wasted no time getting over to the booth, getting our bracelets and going into the theater!!  I was so relieved that I forgave TheBF for being a pain earlier - hehe!

Just remember kiddies:  When in doubt, it pays to ask questions!!!

These signs were on the doors leading into the theater warning us that we were NOT to record the movie!!!  Sorry they're so fuzzy, my camera was being a real pain:

Coming around the corner from the back of the theater was so exciting!  It was indeed half full but they had a section marked off for us!!

SWEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTT!

We took seats almost halfway up on the left side and settled in.  I can still feel the same happiness and relief that I felt when it hit me that we'd actually made it and not only had we actually made it, we were VIP!!  *GRIN*

TheBF eventually went to get a drink and some Peanut M&Ms for us to enjoy while we waited.

At 7:30 they dimmed the lights and 3 minutes later the movie began!!

I was absolutely sucked in from start to finish.

Scott Pilgrim will make you laugh and cringe and bob your head and tap your foot!

You'll want to BOO!! and CHEER! and AWWW!! and applaud and maybe even knock someones lights out!!

It's a wonderful mix of comedy and action and a tad-bit of romance.  The music is fun and the actors give it their all.  Kieran Culkin is fantastic as Wallace and certainly one of my favorite characters.  Michael Cera is wonderful as Scott and Ellen Wong who plays Knives is adorable!

Edgar is an amazing director.  You could see his style all over the film and it WORKS.

GO SEE SCOTT PILGRIM!!
I promise you will not be disappointed!  Oh, and it's PG-13 so you can take your teenagers to it.  I dunno that I'd recommend taking a tween but I'm not a parent so I guess what I think doesn't really matter - LOL!

After the movie was over Edgar came out for QA and he had Brandon Routh with him who was totally rocking Clark Kent glasses, by the way!  SOOOOO awesome!!  And I just have to say that Brandon's geekiness was too cute!  You'd think he'd be this really loud, brash jock but he's actually pretty soft spoken, a little "stuttery" and likes gaming!  Who knew!

Here are some photos from the QA.  Again I apologize for the crappy quality.  I wasn't able to get the light settings right and they didn't bother to turn up the house lights - grrr.

That's Edgar on the left and Brandon on the right:

And again, Edgar and Brandon:

I'll stop torturing you with those since the other pictures aren't that much better.  But  yeah, Edgar F*cking Wright, man!!!

I DID get to ask him a question during the QA (!!!!!) and TheBF was actually able to get a voice recording of it!!  It's a tad bit "spoilery" so I'm going to save it and post it after the movie opens - unless you guys don't care about being spoiled and in that case I'll get it posted tomorrow!  Lemme know!

*GRIN*

Once the QA was over TheBF and I made our way out of the theater, ducking out a backdoor that lead to stairs and then outside.  Sitting right outside the stairwell door was one of the nice foam board prints of the Scott Pilgrim poster that you see in the above photos and guess what?!?!?
.
.
.
.

BOOM! That's what!

Yeah, we totally took it!

I do feel a teeny bit bad about it but hey, it looks great over the fireplace!!

*wink*

Oh, and please ignore all of TheBFs toys.  I dunno what they are doing there but that's not where they're staying!

And finally, as we came out the door on the side of the theater and made our way to the parking garage TheBF turned to look back and Brandon and Edgar were like 10 steps behind us being hustled into waiting cars.  I could not believe that I forgot to grab a Sharpie!!! OMG! If I'd had any sort of pen you can bet I'd have been slipping past the bodyguards and asking for their autographs on our pilfered poster!!

But no worries!! I still had a wonderful evening and will be seeing Scott Pilgrim again this weekend!!  After the great screening and fantastic QA I think that paying for a ticket is the least I can do!!

And that was my Scott Pilgrim vs. The World adventure!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

MWAH!
