http://www.westsidebootcamp.com/ is actually changing our lives right now. I know it looks for all the world like gratuitous moving around, but the trainer keeps things so completely new every session, you never get bored and you always feel like finishing the hour is a meaningful accomplishment. Biking works for me, especially if it's somewhere I haven't been before. Sailing (which is exercise, though not as aerobic as biking). You've mentioned walking and hiking. Ocean swimming in rough surf, when I get a chance. Canoeing and kayaking are fun, though I'm not sure how good exercise they are. Karate used to be very good exercise.

ahh I have the high cholesterol count too and have definitively changed my diet. I am getting checked in 1.5 months and anticipate too that it shall be much lower. *fingers crossed*

For exercise, I have been hula hooping (which is non impact, highly good on the cardiovascular! for impact, I am walking up bernal hill and around. I started to run down the hill on the dirt paths and i am liking the combination. Swimming could be great if you are near a pool.

good luck!
