Ask LJ: Moving a Cable Drop

Feb 11, 2010 10:14

We want to move a cable drop in our house or add a new one. Not having had to do this before, are we better having the cable company move/add it or is there some other professional that would do this for us?

You can try to do it yourself, but adding/removing any length of cable is going to change the level of the signal, and too high or too low will affect packet loss. As much as it pains me to pay them, I recommend using the cable company, so they can check the levels properly. (Just make sure they do so.)
