[One of the main passages to the Demeter is silent, but mostly because Aerith is standing in the middle of the corridor, her gaze disconcertingly steely and detached at the same time. Her tangled hair hangs free, and her tattered dress seems to loft a little on a breeze.
She's waiting for something. Muscles in her forearms and hands are cording, knuckles white from tension as she stares, waiting and listening.]
I can hear them. One by one they climbed the ivory tower fell away, fell away darkness and ash and rot and death.
No more. [Some blasts echo in the distance, and the sphere picks up a few figures running down the hall toward her.]
I said STOP. [She throws her hands out and there's flashes of violet light before all of the figures seem frozen in mid-step, one already bringing up their gun.]
Hospitals need silence, no place for noisy children with their crude toys.
