∝Transmission 002: Deep Space Depot Tilriz

Mar 21, 2010 20:55

[for the first time in a week, something other than stars is visible outside the starboard ports and viewing decks.

a space station turns slowly, steadily growing nearer, revealing it to be much larger than even the largest ship in the fleet - seven or eight times the size of the Uesugi.

there's a distinctive, mechanical three-note chime; a miniature holographic image of a woman projects from all active crew Spheres. a singularly soothing female voice is heard throughout all ships as the woman speaks]

Attention all non-commissioned and field-enlisted personnel. This is DIVA with a status update concerning the fleet's primary and secondary missions.

The Gauntlet will continue it's long-range scans of the target sectors of space while the rest of the fleet docks at Tilriz for resupply. Crew members assigned to the supply and systems check operations should report to their duty stations immediately. Current ship's schedule sets this operation at five standard days.

All off-duty crew are allowed to visit the Tilriz on temporary leave. However, the Admiral advises circumspection. The Tilriz is administered by a subsect of the Dneir ascetics. They use the core section of the depot as a monastery, but allow other races to utilize the rest of the facilities as a waystation in this region.

Because the 8th fleet docks here on treaty, all crew are required to be on their best behavior when taking leave. Should any problems arise, contact your respective crew commanders immediately.

That is all.

DETAILS
    Welcome to our first stop!

Sadly, it's not much of one. Though the Tilriz may look fairly modern on the outside, the interior is quite something else! The 'core' - the central pole and the upper and lower domes - are sealed off for the exclusive use of the monks. If your character wants to sneak in or otherwise find out what's in there, please contact a mod first!

As for the rest, it's clear that the ascetics have left their upkeep to other races. The interior can vary wildly; the sleek, modern section where the fleet is docking is obviously under the care of the Alliance, but the other domes are quite another story. They're a patchwork of old ship parts, discarded armaments, dilapidated robots, and a hi-tech refrigerator or two. Races of many shapes and sizes can be found wandering among them, or keeping shop in little pockets or from stalls or even from the ceiling. Things can be bought and sold, tasted, experienced, all for a fee! Which does not necessarily have to be in money.

How characters explore this station (after using the transporters on the ships to get there) is entirely up to you! Can they go shopping and sell off their clothes to buy things? Sure! Can they try out some alien cuisine and get horribly ill afterward? Also sure! Though its advised that they visit sickbay as soon as possible. Can they get in a fight at a bar? Sure! But despite Diva's warnings everyone on the station, whatever their shape and size, are awfully...relaxed. Or Giddy. Or philosophical. Or euphoric.

And if your character hops over to the Tilriz even for a little while, they will, too. A very fine green smoke permeates the entire station and it will affect every organic crewmember. How? That, also, is up to you. The smoke can act as either a depressant or stimulant. Does this means characters are, essentially, being drugged? Yes it does.

The only exceptions are people who do not leave the ship and inorganic crew (robots, waves, etc). The effects are temporary; if your character returns to their ship, they will recover within a day (with a nasty case of morning sickness). As for how they communicate, all Spheres will work on the station as well as the ships, so even someone who's found themselves lost on the Tilriz can call for help.

This plot will last five days, barring any emergencies! If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please ask them here!
