∝Transmission 038: Going Home

[Dressed in their full uniforms, Commanders Menaeus and Farix wait in the center of the Hyperstring Gate chamber. Several scientists from both the Uesugi and Hawking are at work, monitoring the levels and other readings from the Gate, and some are even in communication with DIVA over the Spheres. [the Doctor doesn't have too many personal items this time around, nor does he wish to bring along anything he acquired there. however, when he sees the commanders salute him, he just sighs, softly groaning under his breath:]

Oh, don't salute. Just...don't. Really, don't.

[he eyes the Gate, then the chamber door, and contemplates sneaking off before anyone else can catch him, but the moment he takes a step towards the blue humanoid he's nicknamed "Bob" in his mind, he stops.]

And before you ask, I'm not quite ready to go.

[basiliscos]

[Menaeus shrugs, giving a discreet look at Farix out of the corner of his eye that says, "Who doesn't like to be saluted?"]

Please yourself. Let us know when you are.

The Doctor is going home!

[after he's said his good-byes, he finally makes his way back to Menaeus]

Well, I think that's everything. I'm trusting you lot not to screw things up again. [wags a finger at him] If I have to come back here a third time, I really won't be happy.

[but he thinks that's sufficient enough and lightens his tone] But good luck. You'll need it. [he gives a final nod to him, then heads over to the Gate operator, handing it his Sphere. he takes one last look at the people there, then sniffs casually as he mentally contains the emotions from this good-bye along with the many he's had to say in recent times, and simply walks on into the Gate, his hands tucked into his pockets.]

[he doesn't turn around again before he finally disappears.]

Why? Forgot to turn off the oven or something?

[After everything they have endured, they are finally returning to their own worlds. She was at first relieved, then happy at their victory. Now it is bittersweet.

She does not belong in that world and has no right to get to know the people there. She told herself of the pain and danger of it. She knew all too well the past mistakes she needed to avoid. Her resolve had been strong in that.

Time has shown her otherwise. She has already known the truth of the matter, of her weakness. ’I am such a fool.’ They are words she tells herself too often, although they are truth. So easily has she fallen prey to the same mistake she swore to avoid

[of everyone there, Rukia is one he wants to say good-bye too, especially since he's more than aware that he won't ever see her again.

he wears a neutral sort of expression for most of his walk there, but as he nears, he slowly starts to smile]

[Turns herself slightly towards him.]

I merely wish to say farewell to some I have known, here. It seems you are no different.

[runs a hand through his hair.] Yeah. Well... [his eyebrows lift slightly as he sniffs] It's not often one can actually say good-bye, or more to the point, know that you'll never cross paths with someone again.

[He's glad to finally go home, even though he really doesn't feel like he did much of anything aside screw around. No extraordinary deeds, but that was fine by him. He did however want have a word or two with a few of the guys he's met, brief as it was. Especially his double.]

[Menaeus gives Duo a salute] Hey there, ready to go home?

[piloted02]

[A passive, lazy salute in return.] You bet. Wondering about my Gundam though. Seems like it's collected a bit of dust around here.

[basiliscos]

Oh, one of those interesting mecha Farix told me about? [smiles] Don't worry. I'd already asked these guys and DIVA about them. Since it came in with you, it'll go out the same way. Just...with less dust.

[oliverplus]

[Oliver walks in looking nervous, but at the salute from Menaeus and Farix, he smiles and gives a salute back]

[then he pauses, looking around the room for all of his friends. this time, he knows that good-bye is going to be the end. he's been trying to tell himself that it's good to know ahead of time, but...he still really hates good-byes. especially these, after everything they've shared over so long...]

[Tieria gave Oliver a nod.]

Tieria! [smiles, glad to see him one more time. but he scratches his head, feeling a little awkward] So...ready to go back to saving Earth?

[He wasn't sure that he'd call it that, but...]

I do have things I need to finish back home. Are you returning home as well?

[Tieria stood in the room looking at the Gate. It was rather fascinating in the long run for certain. Part of him would have liked to stay and help out, but he did have important things back home to return to. One good thing was that they hadn't lost any time.]

[Menaeus approaches Tieria and gives him a salute]

So, ready to head off back home?

[The only two he hadn't seen, yet, were Neil and Motoko...]

[As if on chance, Lockon was making his way to the Gate, knowing full-well when he went through, he was as good as dead. There was no way he survived both explosions... not a chance in heaven or hell. As rude as it was, he figured it would be easy enough to just slip away without saying goodbye. He rationalized it as just letting Lyle and Tieria go on without him, like they doubtlessly had before. And yet, as he turned the corner... there was Tieria. So much for a clean getaway.]
