Just layin' in bed next to Rico when Noname started barkin' up a storm. Fuck! What the hell was his problem? I just wanted to lay here for like another second with the pretty foreign boy before I had to get my ass outta bed and drag myself off to work for another night of waitin' on drunks and gamblers ( ... )

The footsteps, the dogs, they were getting closer. I needed to get out, away. Fast. But my body no longer knew fast, it only knew how to give up. Curl up into a ball and lie there waiting. Taking whatever was going to be dished out this time. One didn't know. One didn't dare to assume. Or hope they wouldn't notice you.

Then there were voices; several and I know a small whimper of fear escaped me. My eye went wide when the dog found me and I curled up into a ball protectively on instinct. But unlike other times, the dog did not sink its teeth in my rotting flesh. Did not tear at limbs, or bark into my ears until the bled. Instead a cold nose was nudged against me. To weak to do anything, I rolled over and scooted back on my hands and feet as much as I could.

There was a person there. Female some part of my brain provided. Dark eyes, dark hair. Stubborn face. No, that's wrong. Not stubborn this face is. I'm so confused. I flinched when I saw her hand move from the corner of my eyes. When had I become so ill prepared for punishment? I ( ... )

I felt something well up in my throat when a strange sound suddenly made it's way out of Wesley's mouth. It took me off guard and I stumbled backwards, landing hard on my ass. I didn't move, just stayed where I was on the floor my eyes locked on Wesley's. The only sound was the door slamming shut after Rico left in a huff. I couldn't really care less about Rico's temper tantrums right about now.

When I looked in those familiar pale eyes all I could feel was a stabbing pain that was at least three years old now.

I love you.

I know.Noname started barking again, pulling me from my trance and nudging me in the arm with his nose as if he was tryin' to get me to snap out of it. Smart dog ( ... )

They were still coming. For now they just stood there looking, but soon they'd come with fists and weapons and boots. At the very least, I hoped it wasn't more then that. A coughing fit wracked through me and I had to give up trying to get to that space under the stairs ( ... )

She seemed as confused as I was. Which was odd. Wasn't this her Hell? Her home? Or did someone drop her in here as well un-announced without warning.

"It's the only way"

Alright, very little warning. I still didn't know who *that* woman was. She'd looked familiar, yet it was only a vague memory. Just like something that was just out of reach, but were to tired to stand on your toes for. If ones toes could handle that. Mine couldn't at the moment. Not that they'd care, which made me not care.

I looked up again when she made a sound that sounded like it belonged to her. It wasn't a number. And it wasn't this Wes-ley sound. Faieth? Feeth? I tried it out in my mouth, rolling the odd sound around my tongue until I thougth I had it right. Can't afford any mistakes, no matter what Hell you're in.

There was another sound and I glanced down with wide eyes as the water seemed to disappear again. We didn't need to carry it to the ocean here? I didn't understand that. At all. I looked up at the woman. Faith. Faith, and moved my hand in the ( ... )

The way he said my name made me cringe and involuntarily suck in a breath of air through my teeth. I let go of my tense expression before I turned back around and gave him a curious look. "Yeah?" I asked him, wonderin' if he was just tryin' to get my attention or if there was something he actually wanted to try and communicate with me. I didn't have the first clue where to start honestly and so I just looked at him for a minute. He seemed lost. Confused. I dunno. I just handed him the clothes and watched him for a second makin' sure he could handle that part on his own ( ... )

Looking at her when she turned around and made a sound that sounded like a question, I just stood there. I was waiting for her to give me the answers to the many questions I had. But there weren't any forthcoming. She suddenly had a look in her eyes I'd seen many times before. In the eyes of people back home. Hell. Before the dogs would rip them apart because they ran ( ... )

At least he was startin' to pick up some communication skills. Nothin' all that fancy but he had hungry, clean and Faith down pat now. It was a good start, right? Right. Sure. Like I had any idea at all what I was doin' here. Maybe I should just get on the phone and call Red or Giles. They'd know what to do. Callin' up Willow and reliving that whole thing wasn't even close to anything I wanted to consider and this whole thing was so confusing. Maybe I should just keep him here and not tell anybody. Just for the night. It couldn't hurt, right? Not like he could do anything to me and besides, he looked scared of his own shadow right now ( ... )
